Many people wouldn’t even think a homeless man could be the luckiest person on Earth. But, the case of a man named Cesar proves differently. We’re lucky to have at least one true friend. Cesar has four of them.
They’re all stray dogs, and they all love this man to pieces.
The unusual pack found themselves on the streets of Rio do Sul, Brazil. They might not have any wealth, but they do have something that’s quite rare these days: true friendship and unconditional love.
This amazing story caught the attention of hospital staff who witnessed what true friendship between a human and dogs look like. A hospital worker, Cris Mamprin, witnessed their unbreakable bond firsthand.
It appeared it was going to be just another night at the ER. Cris Mamprin was working her night shift at the Hospital Regional Alto Vale, not even thinking her night would be different than the others before.
It was 3 AM when Cesar walked into the emergency room asking for treatment for his ongoing medical condition. But, the homeless man wasn’t alone. A pack of stray dogs followed him to the hospital. They all waited patiently as Cesar went inside. Not one of them wanted to leave his friend alone.
When Mamprin noticed the dogs waiting nervously at the front door, she noticed something else: they were all in good shape, looking healthy and groomed. Nothing seemed to be wrong with these fellas. They were all beloved companions treated with care.
“They are all well taken care of and chubby. Seeing them like that waiting at the door only shows how much they are cared for and loved” Mamprin recalls.
As the dogs waited for their friend outside the door, Mamprin expressed her thoughts on Facebook:
“A simple person without luxury who depends on help to win hunger, cold, pain, and wickedness of the world has by his side the best companions, and the exchange is reciprocal,” she wrote.
Cesar practically gave it all for his buddies. And they reciprocated in the most beautiful way.
It’s not that odd to see stray dogs bonding with homeless people. Friends find each other in need. When a dog attaches to a homeless person, that bond becomes unbreakable. They become buddies for life, depending on each other’s love and support.
When Mamprin talked to Cesar about the dogs, he admitted he would often give up his portion for the dogs to eat. He always put them first, and that’s what made Mamprin’s heart skip a beat.
“Exchange of love, affection, warmth, and understanding… A person who confesses to us that he stops eating to feed them. I don’t know how his life is, why he’s on the street, and I don’t even want to know and judge him, but I admire the respect and love he has for his pets,” Mamprin goes on in her post.
It was probably the longest hour in the dog’s lives.
When Cesar finally finished his treatment, the staff was so touched by their love that they allowed the dogs in while they finished the paperwork.
“Seeing them like this, waiting at the door, just shows how well cared and loved they are. Oh, if everyone was like this… if there was no evil, abuse…” Mamprin’s post concludes.
Having friends such as these ones is rare. Their loyalty is the one thing that money can’t buy.
Living in such a wild world, we often forget what’s really important. You can have as many houses as you want, but if you don’t have what Cesar and his buddies have, you have nothing.
After all, this is a family with so much love that it can’t be put under a roof.
