After 279 Days Of Waiting At The Shelter, Malcolm Gets His Happy Ending

Admin

Stray dogs live a life full of uncertainty as they wander the streets, looking for food and shelter.

After being rescued, they feel safe and taken care of for the first time in their lives. The pups are grateful because they finally have a roof over their head.

They begin dreaming of finding their forever parents who will give them the love they never had before.

In 2021, 116,090 cats and dogs entered shelters in Michigan. (1)

The hearts of all these animals are filled with hope when they see visitors coming to the shelter.

They rejoice at hearing their footsteps as they approach their kennels, believing that one of those visitors will pick them out of the crowd and take them home.

Malcolm was one of those shelter dogs who never lost hope of getting his happy ending. Despite spending a lot of time waiting to be adopted, he never stopped being an incredible dog who always brought a smile to everybody’s face.

How long is he going to wait for fortune to smile on him?

In 2021, Malcolm, a charming Boxer Mix, was picked up as a stray and brought to Michigan Animal Rescue League, located in Pontiac.

Shortly after his arrival at the animal shelter, he enchanted everyone with his adorable and goofy personality.

Many visitors would often stop by his kennel to see his happy face, and Malcolm would always greet them by holding a toy in his mouth. He was so excited to see them that he would start running in circles and wagging his tail.

He quickly adapted to life at the shelter and the shelter staff gave him a lot of love, showering him with snuggles that he enjoyed very much.

Since Malcolm was such an amazing dog with an adorable personality, everyone thought that he would get adopted soon.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.

For months, Malcolm watched other fellow residents leaving the shelter in the loving arms of their parents while he kept waiting.

Never Losing Hope

Still, Malcolm didn’t let this break his spirit. His hope that he would find a loving family didn’t waver. Thanks to the wonderful staff and their affection, he was both content and grateful that he was loved and cared for.

The adorable pup bonded enormously with all the staff members and volunteers. While spending a lot of time snuggling with them, he stole the heart of one of the volunteers.

“He was already good friends with his new mom; she met him while volunteering with us, and had spent lots of time hanging out with him. They even went on some outings together: going to the park, the pet store and even to her home,” said Tommy Sanfilippo, the shelter’s staff member.

Their connection was so strong that she couldn’t imagine her life without Malcolm in it.

He became her reliable and irreplaceable friend, and she knew that she had to make him a permanent member of her family.

Parting with Malcolm was difficult for his shelter friends, but they were immensely happy that he found his forever home.

The Day Has Come

After spending 279 days at the shelter, his adoption day finally came.

Although he sensed that this was his special day, the moment he posed for a family photo was when he finally realized that he was going to his forever home.

His happiness was infinite, and he couldn’t stop grinning from ear to ear.

His new parents welcomed him into their loving home and Malcolm settled in pretty quickly. He is the perfect match.

The sweet pup loves cuddling with his parents, feeling overjoyed that he found his place under the sun. Malcolm’s greatest wish came true, and he is now the happiest dog in the whole world.

We couldn’t be happier for Malcolm, and we hope that all other dogs in search of a home will find their happiness very soon. All of them deserve to be given a lot of love and affection.

If you’ve decided to welcome a dog into your life, please visit your local shelters and rescues and give those pups a chance. They have so much love to give, and they hold out hope that somebody will choose them and promise to love them forever
