If you are an animal lover, then surely, one of the nicest things you can do is help one or more of these helpless creatures.
But, if you come across an abandoned family of dogs and rescue them from the street, you have paved your way to heaven.
In today’s story, you will see how one group of good people succeeded in doing just that, even though the work was not easy at all.
Abandoned Family Roaming Around
Stephanie Boltjes is a huge cat lover who dedicated a big part of her life to saving these little cuties and providing them with a lot of love. However, she never turned a deaf ear to the cries of any other animal in need of help.
It was like that one day when she noticed a dog roaming near her house in Los Angeles. She realized that it was a pup from one of her neighbors.
That’s when she saw several small heads emerging from a nearby corner. There were four small dogs, and she immediately realized that it was a family of abandoned Mutts. There was a mother and father with their two puppies.
She didn’t wait a moment, but immediately called for reinforcement – a team of female rescuers from Hope For Paws.
As soon as these experienced women got to that place, they went into action. First, they tried to lure them into an enclosed yard. Unfortunately, the pups were so scared that they immediately scattered around the neighbor’s yard.
They needed a backup plan, and they knew that this rescue mission was going to be very tricky.
A Tricky Rescue Indeed
JoAnn, an experienced rescuer from Hope For Paws, decided to use a net for catching because she immediately realized that it would not be possible to save these frightened dogs any other way.
First, they found the mom hiding in a pile of tires. JoAnn gently put the snare on and they were able to pull her out and put her in a cage.
The puppies were next in line because daddy was nowhere in sight. One puppy was hiding under boards next to the house and, with a little effort, they managed to get him out and bring him to safety. He was very nervous and almost bit one of the rescuers.
They found another puppy nearby and quickly put him in a cage with his brother. Another rescuer named Loreta was responsible for this job.
Only the father remained, who was skillfully hiding somewhere, but they knew he couldn’t be far. After a few minutes of searching, they finally heard sounds, and they ran in that direction.
Alex Babcock was able to put the net around him. He was very nervous and scared, and almost bit the net, but they managed to calm him down somehow. By the way, this was Babcock’s first rescue. Way to go, Alex!
Finally, the whole family was in one place and they were ready to start their new lives.
On The Road To New Lives
They named mom and dad, Cadet and Junior, while their puppies were Daisy and Brownie. This sweet family was heading to Cares, in Los Angeles, for some much-needed medical attention.
There, the staff had their hands full, especially because they had to remove a lot of ticks from the skin of these dogs.
Also, Cadet suffered from patellar luxation and had to have surgery to correct it. Fortunately, everything went great and this big, happy family was reunited, all clean, healthy, and tick-free.
They were ready to go to LA Animal Rescue where they would spend their happy days together until being ready for adoption.
That’s exactly how it went. In addition to enjoying each other like a real, little happy family, they spread their love and playfulness to other dogs, which made the staff who took care of them happy every day.
