Dog Surrendered To Wisconsin Shelter Reunites With His Family After 2 Long Years

No matter how many times it’s mentioned, one thing that is almost impossible to bear is losing your dog.

Aside from the horrible dread you would feel if that happened, one thing that makes it difficult to deal with is time.

As it goes on, the chances of finding your lost pet get smaller and smaller in most situations, and you slowly start to lose hope.

However, in this story, we will talk about a dog who was found after it was missing for two years, and how hope kept his family going.

Payday’s Story

Payday was always a special type of dog. He had trouble being around people, and the first time he was surrendered to Wisconsin Humane Society, it was because of his attitude.

Even at the shelter, it was pretty obvious that he wasn’t adapting well nor did he like the staff much either.

Angela Speed, who works at the shelter, told The Dodo: He’s a pretty feisty dog. He’s a little dog with a big personality.

The staff said that he was full of energy, but a little skittish and reserved from everyone.

When it started to seem like people didn’t want to adopt him, Speed tried to use social media to help his exposure in hopes that someone might take interest.

Soon after, Payday was all over the news and was even on FOX6 News, Milwaukee’s Adopt-A-Pet. Not long after, the Wisconsin Humane Society received a call about him.

In a Facebook statement, they said: They told us that one of their viewers, Dwight, called in because he recognized the dog we had featured.

He had woken up early last Wednesday to the sounds of FOX6’s morning broadcast, just as our volunteer started describing a little brown dog with the most adorable underbite.

Listening to Dwight’s story, it was clear that Payday had been missing for 2 years and nobody had seen him since. Dwight took him in as a gift to his daughter, who missed him so much.

The family rushed to the shelter where he was, and what followed was one of the most heartwarming reunions ever.

Speed said: You could tell he immediately recognized her, and it was such a joyous reunion. It was magical.

Most people know animal shelters as places where you adopt animals, but reuniting lost animals with their families is a core part of our work.

After they shared a beautiful moment together, Payday was finally taken back to the home he truly belongs in.

It’s beautiful to see how such small moments can be life changing, and it shows us how important it is to never lose hope, even in the most dire situations.
