Abandoned, Confused Pup Found Strapped To A Tree Is Finally Ready To Start His New Life

Admin

When a Good Samaritan was walking his pup through the Frank Niederwerfer Wildlife Sanctuary, Connecticut, they were startled by some mysterious barking coming from the woods.

Deciding to investigate, they came across an abandoned five-year-old doggo strapped to a tree by his collar.

Since he was a very calm and well-behaved boy, the Samaritan freed the pup and brought him to Tyler Regional Animal Care Shelter (TRACS), a shelter based in South Windsor, Connecticut.

Even though the pup’s collar had his name written on it, Kobe, the shelter staff decided to change his name, hoping it would help him forget about his dark past and make it easier for him to start a new life.

Therefore, meet Obie, an adorable pup who is looking for a new family who will love and cherish him the way he deserves.

The TRACS staff started sharing his photos on their social media, hoping that somebody would notice him and offer him a loving home.

Of course, being so adorable, Obie attracted a lot of incredible people who started calling the shelter, making sure that he had everything he needed – and it came as no surprise to them when they learned that he was well taken care of.

“Kobe got a bath today, and as you can see he is starting to BEEF out! His eyes are almost healed, and he is learning manners and personal space. He is LOVING all the attention from every person that meets him. While he is still unsure of males, we think that will come with time,” the Connecticut shelter wrote in a Facebook update.

Obie was put on medication that successfully cleared his eye and skin irritation. He also received a thorough vet checkup, was neutered, got his vaccines, had some blood work, and was microchipped.

Looking For A New Home

After making sure that he had time to relax, was healthy, and happy, the shelter announced that he was ready to become a part of somebody’s life.

“Obie loves being loved on, and is learning so much from his weekly training sessions. Obie deserved to be the focus of attention and we are hopeful we can find the PERFECT home,” the shelter stated in a post.

They also explained that Obie isn’t comfortable around men and that he would prefer an all-female home. He also has keen anxiety and is still learning leash manners, but overall, he is very excited to be a part of a family and will make sure that he is the best boy ever.

Previous Owner

In other news, the South Windsor Police Department released a statement announcing that Obie’s previous owner, a 26-year-old woman, stepped forward and was arrested.

The police department stated that she was charged with cruelty to animals and tethering a dog to a stationary object. She was released on a $5,000 bond and is set to appear in court in the following weeks.

Please do not be cruel to our furry friends! If, for whatever reason you are no longer able to care for your pet, take them to your local shelter – not to the woods!
