The fact that thousands of dogs never get a fighting chance is truly heartbreaking.
Left in the worst situations, their owners condemn them to a life of uncertainty and poor living conditions, ultimately leading to one inevitable outcome…
Sky, a dog found in an abandoned backyard, was headed in the same direction. He had completely given up hope after enduring a series of tragic events in the past. He waited for the inevitable to come, but instead, a woman showed up!
Sky’s Life Journey Left Everyone In Shock
Sky’s backstory is probably one of the most heartbreaking tales that you’ll ever read.
Before he was found by Liza, a long-time rescuer, this poor pup was dumped in an abandoned backyard after suffering horrific injuries. He had a hole in his face and a broken jaw, which prevented him from eating or moving his mouth at all.
On top of that, he was severely malnourished and barely able to stand on his feet.
When Liza saw him for the first time, Sky had completely given up on life. She had to pick him up off the ground and load him into the car, as he lacked the strength to do it himself.
Scared, shut down, and distrustful of humans, Sky showed no reaction whatsoever. Then, a glimmer of hope emerged!
“At first, he was so scared that I almost had to drag him to the clinic in my arms. After about half an hour together, he is now poking his wet nose into my palm, asking for affection, and his tail is wagging—the first signs of life, faith, and love,” Liza wrote on Instagram.
Upon arriving at the clinic, Sky was diagnosed with a series of health issues. Aside from his jaw injury, he tested positive for parvo and was suffering from serious inflammation in his upper respiratory tract, as well as anemia.
“Every day, he is losing weight and experiencing a stronger inflammatory process, dehydration, and anemia,” she added.
Is There A Happy Ending For This Sweet Pup
Liza and the team did everything they could to raise enough money to continue their support for Sky. His condition was almost hopeless, as his jaw required a series of treatments to heal.
After months of intensive care and one exhausting surgery, he finally showed signs of progress. He slowly began to gain weight and walk and eventually emerged from danger.
Sadly, the vets couldn’t do anything about his snout.
“A stable bacteria has developed. Unfortunately, we can no longer do anything about it,” Liza wrote.
Due to the severity of his injury, Sky needs daily treatment, including the cleaning of his snout. Aside from that, he has fully recovered and is on his way to being socialized with people and dogs.
“On the other hand, Sky is fine,” Liza concluded.
Still, finding someone to adopt Sky remains the biggest challenge. Now considered a special-needs dog, this furry pup needs an owner who is willing to dedicate their time and love to continue caring for him.
Sky is currently in his foster home where he receives the best care possible. However, what he truly needs is a safe, nurturing environment and a place to call his own.
Hopefully, that day will come soon, and Sky will finally be able to experience what life in a forever home feels like.
Good luck, sweet boy!
