Pups, just like hoomans, need to take care of their appearance and personal hygiene in order to stay happy and healthy.
However, unlike us, sometimes they can’t take care of these needs on their own and rely on us to do it for them.
Sadly, some pups don’t have hoomans to care for them, and as a result, their fur can become super long and dirty, forming mats and clumps that cause the pup a lot of pain.
The doggo in today’s story experienced exactly this kind of hardship.
Rescue Mission
When a team of rescuers received a phone call early in the morning, they immediately knew it was something serious.
The caller was a woman who stumbled upon an abandoned dog stuck in a run-down home with no way out. And when she mentioned that she had difficulty even recognizing it as a dog at first, the rescuers immediately understood the severity of the situation.
Gathering all the supplies they needed, the rescuers made their way down to the location where the woman was already waiting so that she could help them get inside.
When they entered, they saw a big clump of fur sitting in the corner of the garden. As they slowly approached him, they thought that he would get startled and run away, but the pup did no such thing.
Instead, he patiently sat on the ground, not moving a single muscle, and looked at the rescuer with cautious eyes.
Even though this did make it easier for the rescuers to capture him, seeing him so depressed broke their hearts to pieces.
They swiftly took him to the shelter, where a team of vets was eagerly waiting to provide him with the medical care he so desperately needed.
At The Vet
As soon as they arrived, the pup was immediately given a much-needed haircut.
All those long, dirty mats weighed down on his skin, causing wounds to appear. They also restricted his movement.
As they were shaving them off, the vet team began to notice just how malnourished this poor boy was.
After a nearly two-hour-long haircut, the pup was finally free!
The matted fur that was removed from him weighed nearly 11 pounds! That’s crazy.
Even though they had already noticed a huge improvement, the hoomans knew that there was so much more to be done. First, all of his wounds needed to be cleaned and bandaged, and his health level had to be improved.
Luckily, the pup seemed to understand that the hoomans were only trying to help, so he patiently sat through the entire process, not making a sound.
New Chapter
After his medical treatment, the hoomans prepared a nice and cozy bed for him, as he would need a lot of time to recover.
They knew that the road would be long, but as soon as they noticed an improvement in his health and behavior only a couple of hours after his treatment, the rescuers knew it would be worth it.
I wish this poor boy all the luck in the world and hope that his recovery journey brings him not only health but also a loving family that will provide him with the love and happiness he truly deserves.
