Sometimes, in life, we are forced to make difficult decisions that are the right ones.
A homeless person made a heartbreaking decision when they surrendered their pup named Hero to a rescue.
Although Hero’s owner adored him, they felt that their sweet canine deserved a better life than the one they could offer him.
Hero didn’t know why his human gave him up and he felt confused after he got separated from him.
Little did he know that life had so much more in store for him than he could ever imagine.
Hero Meets A Wonderful Family
At the time, Sarah and her husband wanted to adopt a dog.
They came across Hero and learned that he was looking for a loving home after his owner gave him up.
The couple decided to foster him and see if he was the right match for them.
The moment Sarah met the pooch, she fell in love with him. She didn’t confess it to her husband right away because she wanted to know what he thought about Hero.
“I knew instantly I loved him and I wanted him but I didn’t want to influence my husband’s decision,” Sarah told GeoBeats Animals.
Since Sarah’s husband felt the same way about Hero, the couple decided to welcome the doggo into their lives and give him a forever home.
Hero’s parents gave him time to adapt to his new life. They stayed by his side and showered him with love.
Little by little, the pup gained a sense of security and he settled into his new home.
Hero felt like he truly belonged with his family. They made him feel cherished and loved. The canine adored them and he enjoyed spending time with them.
The pup’s family noticed that he didn’t like doing exercises.
“He hates exercise of any kind. He’ll get walked and then he’s done and he wants to go home and go back to bed,” Sarah added.
The doggo dislikes spending time outside. Sarah and her husband think that it is because he spent his first years living outside with his previous owner.
Sometimes, the couple drives Hero a block away, and then he agrees to go for a walk.
A Unique Connection
Sarah was stunned when she realized how emotionally intelligent Hero was.
When his mom was crying because she had a bad day at work, the pooch read her emotions.
Hero licked her face, ran to the bathroom, and brought her a bath mat.
Sarah was moved because she knew that it was the bath mat that gave Hero comfort when he felt scared and upset.
“He somehow connected how I was feeling in that moment and related it to his fear, then brought me what makes him feel better. Of course I just cried even harder,” Sarah wrote in an Instagram post.
Hero and his mom built a special bond over the years.
Sarah feels blessed to have the canine in her life. He has been an enormous support to her during the most difficult moments of her life.
“I feel like Hero and I are connected on this level that I didn’t know was possible… I went through losing my dad and Hero was this constant thread of a little bit of good in some really, really bad days. He’s just pure goodness. He’s such an amazing gift,” Sarah said.
The pooch lives his dream life with his humans who adore him.He often posts updates about his life on his Instagram account and gives his followers glimpses of his happiness in his forever home.
