Dog With Separation Anxiety Struggles To Find A Loving Home After Being Returned To The Shelter

Admin

If there is one thing that every dog dreams of, it’s having a loving family and a home to live in. They are much simpler than we are, and this is one of the reasons why we love them so much.

However, in life, things never quite turn out the way we want them to. For some pups, things can take a dark turn, and they might end up suffering a lot because of neglectful owners.

This kind of thing happens to so many stray or abandoned dogs in the world, and it’s a very big problem. It causes trauma and anxieties that make it very difficult for them to live a normal life.

When this pup got a new chance for adoption, it seemed like things were turning out okay, but that wasn’t the case.

For much of his stay in the Humane Society of Huron Valley in Michigan, the rescuers working there always noticed that Tiki required constant attention.

As it turns out, he suffered from strong separation anxiety, and he had a hard time being away from other people for too long.

On several occasions, he actually managed to escape the shelter during the night, and the whole event was caught on camera.

Nobody really understood yet just how strong his anxiety was, but this would certainly make his adoption a lot harder.

After his escape, the shelter staff nicknamed him ‘Houdini’ because they didn’t even realize how he did it.

At one point, the Michigan rescuers actually managed to find a family for Tiki, but that happiness would be short-lived as he was returned to the shelter again.

The family just couldn’t deal with his separation anxiety at times, and they didn’t want him to suffer because they couldn’t be around all the time.

It’s A Hopeful Situation

Luckily for Tiki, his situation might not be completely hopeless. Even though he was returned to the shelter, the staff there were completely transparent about his ‘Houdini’ escapes.

They posted their clips on social media, which got a lot of attention. The constant surge of attention online could mean that somebody might see the video and take an interest in adopting.

While there is no guarantee that it will happen fast, it’s something at least. The staff is hopeful that he will meet someone special soon.

Wendy Welch, the director of the organization, told Newsweek: “We’ve had some interest in adopting Tiki, but still no match yet.”

She continues by saying: “He’s an older gent, so he would like to be in a home where everyone understands his aches and pains and is the only dog, not to mention can be home with him to help him learn to trust that people will be back for him.

Judging by his pictures alone, there is no doubt that he is a very sweet boy who just wants a family that loves and cares for him.

While we don’t know if he was adopted just yet, I am hopeful that he will find the best family and live the life he always wanted.
