Piglet stopped counting how many times she stood by her kennel door, feeling unwanted and unworthy of love.
For two years, the doggo has lived in hopes that one day, the potential adopters would notice her and give her a loving home.
Sadly, that never happened. Piglet watched as other dogs left their kennels in the arms of their new parents.
She wished to be in their place and to know how it felt to finally be chosen.
Although Piglet experienced disappointment day after day, she never let sadness take over her heart.
The sweet pup kept smiling and hoping that the happiest chapter of her life would soon begin.
Piglet’s Story
The canine was found wandering the streets of New Jersey in 2022, feeling lost and confused.
She was named Piglet because she had a curly piglet tail.
“We have no idea what happened to her tail, but it’s a curly-cue-piglet tail! It makes her all the cuter,” the shelter wrote in a Facebook post.
The pup was admitted to a shelter in Newark where she spent four months before being transferred to the Associated Humane Popcorn Park Shelter in Forked River.
Ever since Piglet entered the shelter, she charmed the staff with her positive attitude and the irresistible smile on her face.
They were sure that the happy pup would soon capture the hearts of potential adopters who visited their shelter.
The dream of finding her humans gave Piglet the strength to move forward.
She longed to know what it felt like to wake up in her own home, cuddle with her parents, and absorb their love.
Despite spending over 600 days at the shelter, Piglet didn’t lose hope that her time would come. With a smile on her face, she kept waiting for someone to finally fall in love with her.
The Shelter’s Heartbreaking Appeal
Unfortunately, the shelter life started affecting Piglet.
The doggo developed allergies, and she is currently on medication. The staff hopes that her allergies will resolve themselves after she moves into her new home.
They felt heartbroken for Piglet who kept getting overlooked.
Wishing to help her, the shelter issued an appeal for a loving family to give her the home she had been waiting for so long.
“That’s entirely too long for this sweet dog to sit here wondering if anyone will ever notice her,” they wrote on Facebook.
Piglet’s human friends adore her. They hope that someone will meet the pooch and give her a chance to show them how adorable she is.
“We just love this goofy girl. We sure wish someone else would see what we all see in her. She’s just under 4 years old and she’s full of happy energy and silliness,” the shelter added.
I wholeheartedly hope that precious Piglet will steal the hearts of a great family who will adore her like she deserves.
