The fact that people continue to dump their beloved pets on the streets is completely heartbreaking.

Since most of them aren’t used to living on the streets, they face incomprehensible hardships that leave them wondering what they did wrong to endure such a difficult fate.

Luckily, the world is full of humans who will do everything in their power to help each and every one of these fur babies find the loving home they deserve all along.

Today, you will meet two such hoomans.

Michelle Rocha Frea and her dad, David, are dedicated animal lovers who are willing to do anything in order to help an animal in need.

A couple of years back, they were the proud hoomans of Winn Dixie, who adored them with her entire heart.

“My dad had a dog named Winn Dixie that was his sidekick at work – she would follow him everywhere and ride in the tractor with him,” Michelle told Newsweek.

Unfortunately, Winn Dixie passed away a couple of years ago in a hit-and-run incident, leaving David heartbroken.

But when a friend contacted David to inform him that a couple of dogs were being dumped by an agricultural processing plant, David never expected to hear this.

“He called my dad because one of them looked like Winn Dixie,” she stated.

David, taking this as a sign, got in his car, made his way over to the location, and brought the pup home.

Unexpected Outcome

However, the pup, now named Tommy, decided that he couldn’t stay for long and left the very next morning.

“He had dug a hole under the fence and gotten out. My dad looked for him, driving down the streets etc, but couldn’t find him,” she said.

The day after, David received yet another call, stating that Tommy had gone back to the same agricultural plant where he was rescued. Since that was a very long drive away from their farm, David knew that there was a really good reason why this pup decided to go back.

As soon as they returned to the plant, they found out the reason for Tommy’s 10-mile trip to the Bay Area.

He didn’t want to leave his friend behind.

“He wouldn’t leave his friend’s side, but that friend was very skittish and terrified of people. Over the next week, they eventually caught her, and then my dad brought both dogs back home,” Michelle said.

Naming the pup Sawyer, Michelle and her dad decided to try to make them as comfortable as ever. But what they didn’t know was that they didn’t rescue only two pups… they rescued nine!

That’s right, Sawyer was pregnant!

A month later, Sawyer gave birth to seven healthy and adorable puppies! And their parents couldn’t be happier.

Not only were they finally off the streets, but they were also in the care of loving humans who were making sure that they, as well as their babes, had everything they could need to lead happy lives.

For now, the puppies will remain with their parents until they grow up big and strong and ready to lead their own lives.

“They need owners with experience with dogs since puppies can be a lot of work! They are small enough to fly right now, so location isn’t a big issue, but they will be able to be picked up in the Bay Area,” she concluded.
