Breeder Mistakenly Made The Most Stunning Pit Bull Ever But Things Weren’t As Good As They Seemed

Admin

Even though they have a really nice time at the shelter, with all the loving staff doing everything to make their stay as best as possible, every shelter animal has one dream – to find a loving forever home.

No matter how much fun they have with their furry siblings and incredible hoomans, these animals hope that one day, they will be noticed by a loving person who will make their dream a reality and adopt them.

One such situation is a stunning pup named Nora. However, her story is a bit different from the rest.

Looks Aren’t Everything

Nora found her way to the Border Tails Rescue, a shelter based in Northbrook, Illinois. From the very first day she arrived, this girl has been a sight to admire.

From making people do double-takes to having them completely stop in their tracks, Nora proudly shows off her incredible merle, which is a genetic pattern in a dog’s coat!

Unfortunately, things aren’t as good as they seem.

As gorgeous as she looks in her coat, it has cost her a lot. Specifically, her sight.

Since she is a double merle, meaning that she had two copies of the merle gene, her genetic code faced some complications.

Usually, when a dog has one merle gene in their system, it doesn’t pose any health risks to them. But if the pup has two merle genes, which can happen when both of their parents are merles, then there is an increased chance of them being born blind or deaf.

“Many double Merle pups are the result of backyard breeding, where irresponsible owners breed dogs purely for desirable traits. Backyard breeders are in profit. Many of them are only producing puppies to sell, which means that they will try anything to get rare and desirable colorations and traits,” explains Pet Rescue Advocate Rocky Kanaka.

And for Nora, she was born blind. However, being such a good girl, Nora refused to let go of her zest for life!

✨ Meet Nora! ✨ Meet Nora, a darling 1-year-old pitbull ready to show the world that special needs dogs can overcome anything! Despite being blind, Nora can see big shapes and figures a bit. Her blindness is due to being a double merle, a condition where two merle dogs are bred together, often resulting in blindness, deafness, or both. But Nora doesn’t let her blindness define her. She’s an incredible, trusting, and loving little lady who has already mapped out her foster home and is gaining confidence on walks. Nora hasn’t had a single accident in her foster home and goes potty as soon as she’s outside. She’s great in the crate and isn’t much of a barker. Recently, Nora accompanied her foster mom on a 5-hour day trip and was amazing in the car! She constantly amazes us with how wonderful she is. Nora was brought to Border Tails in rough shape and still needs to gain weight. She’s understandably protective of her meals and needs a family that respects her space while she eats. With slow progress, she’s becoming less frantic during meals, and her body and eyes are already looking better with nourishment. Nora would do great in a home with or without other dogs. She’s very submissive and has gotten along with every dog she’s met. At a recent event, she was loved by kids and adults alike and immediately bonded with every human she met. Nora has even been around horses without getting scared or barking. She’s a gentle, happy, and easygoing dog who would make a wonderful companion. Nora’s unique differences hardly affect her at all. She has no idea she’s different. Nora is looking for a home that will dote on her and continue to show her how beautiful life can be. She’s an absolute joy to have around. If you’re looking for a mid/low energy, happy, special pitbull, you’re going to fall fast in love with her. Yes, she’s really housebroken, crate trained, dog-friendly, good in the car, and quiet. So don’t wait to bring this dream dog home! Apply for her today! You can apply for this pup here: https://www.bordertailsrescue.org/adopt 📍Northbrook, IL 📞 847-813-5774 📧 [email protected]

Living Life To The Fullest

The most incredible thing is the fact that even with her troublesome past, she still manages to be one pawsome pup.

The Illinois shelter staff describes this amazing girl in one perfect world: lovable! Not only is she incredibly gorgeous, but she is also a sweet, gentle pup who refuses to let her blindness get in the way of happiness.

Unfortunately, she wasn’t able to completely break free from her past since she does have some troubles when it comes to her confidence and behaviors around mealtime.

Luckily, Nora was taken in by the most loving foster parents who are helping her overcome these little hiccups. However, what will help her the most is a forever home that will take her in and provide her with a gentle life full of love and happiness.

So, if you would be so kind as to open up your home to a little fur baby who will make your life one never-ending adventure, please visit Border Tails Rescue for more information.
