Colorado Pup Set A Fire In Owner’s Home Just Because He Was Too Curious

In the pet world, humans have always thought that curiosity is a cat trade. Cats are usually the ones who like investigating things, putting their little whiskers where they don’t really belong.

However, today, you will find out that another furry friend also allowed their curiosity to get the best of them.

A Colorado pup decided to wander around his home one morning, exploring all its nooks and crannies, but when he ended up in the kitchen, he did something that put his whole family in danger.

As he was looking around the kitchen, the pup noticed some boxes sitting on top of the stove.

Thinking that something yummy was hiding in them, he got up on his back legs like a hooman and gave the boxes a little sniff.

Unfortunately, one of his paws ended up on one of the stove knobs, which he ended up turning on.

As the stove top grew hotter, the boxes caught fire, scarring the pup and making him run away.

Luckily, the pup’s hoomans owned an Apple HomePod, which sent them a “High Heat” notice that immediately woke them up.

One of the hoomans got up to see what the issue was only to be completely shocked by a small fire in his kitchen!

He swiftly grabbed a fire extinguisher and managed to put out the fire before contacting the Colorado Police Department.

Help Is On The Way

“Upon investigation, crews did not find any active fire but did find evidence of a fire. The male homeowner was able to extinguish the fire before crews got there but was later transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported to people or pets,” the Colorado Springs Fire Department wrote in a Facebook post.

Curious as to what started the fire, the owners decided to check the security cameras, which showed them exactly what happened!

“We determined their pup got a bit curious and accidentally switched on the oven, which had some boxes on top of it,” they added.

Luckily, nobody got injured, and the owners learned a valuable lesson – never leave things on the stove!

The fire department took this opportunity to remind everybody that an accident like this one can be prevented if necessary measures are taken.

“This is a good reminder to always have working smoke alarms inside and outside every sleeping area and on every floor of the home, ensure all combustibles are away from your stovetop/oven, and know two ways out of every room in your home in the event of a fire,” they concluded.

I’m so happy to hear that both the pup and his humans walked away without any injuries that day.

However, I’m also sure this little pup learned a big lesson that day – leave the curiosity to the cats!
