Puppy Who Was Chained 24/7 Finally Gets A New Chance When A Rescuer Rushes To His Aid

One of our best traits is our compassion for the people who matter to us. Sometimes, this feeling can extend to strangers who need help.

However, it is really important not to overlook the fact that we also need to do better for animals.

As it currently stands, there are just way too many strays or abandoned pups living on the streets, and it is usually like that because people are willfully ignoring the problem.

Dave’s situation was really horrible. This small puppy was chained for most of the time and only got a new chance when somebody really amazing realized he was in trouble and needed help.

Dave Endured So Much

While he was still living with his owner in a small town in North Carolina, Dave suffered greatly in a short amount of time. He spent every day in chains without getting any food.

Nobody tried helping him and he rarely interacted with anyone. This is just absolutely heartbreaking to see and I don’t understand how nobody noticed the issue sooner.

Eventually, a PETA fieldworker saw just how much Dave was suffering, and she went to examine him to see if she could help.

She realized he was seriously underweight due to malnutrition and had way too many fleas on his body. Another problem was a serious case of mange.

The rescuers contacted the owner and tried to get him to take the dog to a veterinarian clinic or surrender it to a shelter where it could receive help.

However, the man rejected the idea. The PETA fieldworkers asked the authorities to see if they could maybe help with the matter, but it was not possible.

His owner kept moving the dog whenever the authorities arrived to check on the dog and then placed him back in the same horrible conditions after they left.

Eventually, they were able to prove that the dog had been severely neglected, and they took the puppy away. This was finally some good news.

The Start Of His New Life

PETA, along with Reba’s Rescue, a Virginia-based organization, took in Dave and helped him heal. The plan was to set up a diet for the puppy so he could regain weight.

They also needed to treat his skin problems and get rid of the fleas. With time and care, Dave had changed immensely.

His coat had grown back, and his health had improved. The puppy was also much happier and seemed to like his new human friends.

After all, they were the ones who helped him turn his life around. Just as things were changing so much for Dave, there was more good news.

His rescuers had placed him on an adoption list and had actually managed to find a new and amazing family for him.

They took him in immediately and renamed him Roux. Everyone was so glad that he was finally getting a fresh start with someone who would treat him well.

Dave’s story can serve as a reminder for all of us that we can do more to help the dogs who need it. All we need to do is take the first step forward.
