This Lovable Dog Screams Like A Person When He’s Happy

Let me introduce you to Mo – the American Staffordshire Terrier dog from Flagstaff, Arizona who became famous due to his comically high-pitched voice.

Mo The Screaming Staffy, as known on Instagram, is loved by millions of people around the world. So, what’s so special about his voice, you may ask?

Well, Mo is not your run-of-the-mill type of dog… There’s nothing wrong with him, actually, but he likes to scream and only when he’s happy.

And, it’s something you definitely haven’t heard before.

Kristin Allen, Mo’s owner, said that she thinks he mostly sounds like a dinosaur.

“I think it mostly sounds like a Velociraptor scream or a Tyrannosaurus rex. Other times, it sounds like a woman screaming. And then, sometimes, he does these chirping things that make him sound like a bird. It’s a sound that has a lot of variety to it!”

When Kristin first got Mo, she was really surprised by his scream. When Mo screamed for the first time, he saw another dog, and everyone was shocked.

Both she and the trainer weren’t sure if the screams were the result of aggression or something else, but shortly afterward, they realized they weren’t.

Mo was very good at training and so willing to learn. He only screamed when he was happy or wanted attention.

“He just makes everyone that meets him smile. He’s hanging out the back window screaming his head off and people are cracking up next to us […] He does it when he’s asking for attention,” Kristin said.

Although people mostly laugh at his screams and find it hilarious, there have been some negative reactions as well over the years.

Sometimes, people would turn around or walk away from him, but as soon as anyone meets him, they see how lovable and kind he truly is.

It wasn’t Kristin who found and adopted Mo… in fact, he adopted Kristin himself.

It all happened one day when Kristin was walking back to her apartment and she saw a silhouette of what looked like a dog from a park across the street.

Mo walked toward Kristen, wagging his tail, and simply rested his head on her knee. “He literally just walked into my life at the right time,” Kristin told The Dodo.

She brought him home since she felt this immediate connection with him. He clearly had been outside for a long time, but Kristin didn’t know if his owners were still looking for him.

She decided to give the previous owners a fair chance of finding him, so the next day, Kristin brought Mo to Maricopa County Animal Care and Control.

When no one came to claim him after a couple of days, she went back and adopted him officially. She felt like she had found him for a reason.

“I found Mo on Saturday, June 17th. The next day was Father’s Day, and it was, coincidentally, also my father’s birthday. I lost my dad when I was 16 years old. There has to be a reason that Mo wandered into my life.”

Kristin now takes Mo everywhere she goes, and they are simply inseparable.

She never thought her first dog would be technically a Pitbull, but she now wants everyone to see him and understand that they are like any other dog who deserves love and affection.
