A little Chihuahua boy – later named Nile – was abandoned on the streets of Long Beach, California.
He was scared, lonely, and very skittish. For weeks, no one could get him…
As soon as someone tried to approach him, Nile would instantly run away. But, still, several people in the neighborhood worried about him.
They not only left him food and water everywhere, but really took an interest in keeping track of where he was and if he was okay.
Alone And Scared
Thankfully, a Good Samaritan knew to call Hope For Paws rescue organization, from Los Angeles, to help.
Loreta Frankonyte and Eldad, from Hope For Paws, arrived at the location and spent numerous hours following the little guy, but he was too nervous and skittish.
Ultimately, after many hours, Nile got really spooked and disappeared. They couldn’t find him anymore.
However, the neighbors once again stepped in and told the rescuers that Nile sneaks into one particular yard every day. Apparently, he felt safe there, so he went into this yard to rest and sleep.
Loreta and Eldad kindly asked the homeowner to close the gate and seal every possible escape route when he comes to nap in their yard.
“Before approaching the dog, we made sure there was no way for him to escape”, Hope For Paws said in the rescue video.
They found the little guy resting behind some trash and children’s toys. The fear in his eyes was evident.
It wasn’t an easy rescue at all, but after the initial shock and fighting, Nile finally calmed down. He was a smart guy, after all.
“These moments are so scary for dogs, but we work quickly to assure them that they are safe with us,” the rescue explained. The rescuers spent a few extra minutes with the dog, calming him down before putting him in a crate.
Once he was finally in the crate, he completely calmed down.
Rescued And Loved
His transformation from a scared little dog who didn’t trust anyone into the sweetest pooch who adored to be loved was the best thing ever.
“In my experience, having a bath, feeling clean for the first time in a long time, having that nice positive contact with us really helps them. A hug, a bath, and a little sense of humor there can go a long way,” said Eldad, the founder of Hope For Paws.
Nile completely melted in their arms. They couldn’t believe that was the same dog who was fighting for his life just an hour before.
After a warm bath, lots of belly rubs, and snuggles, Nile was ready to go to his foster home.
Friends at Smooch Pooch Dog Rescue, from Los Angeles, offered to foster little Nile and find him the perfect home.
“Sweet Nile is 1 year old and weighs 9 pounds. He is a little shy when meeting new people but warms up quickly. He loves other dogs and is good with cats too ❤️❤️,” Smooch Pooch Dog Rescue posted on their Facebook.
Luckily, it didn’t take long for this adorable little guy to find his forever home.
Nile – now known as Peanut – was adopted by the wonderful Gleim family that lives in Redondo Beach, California.
“He is so happy now and we love him so much! He loves playing with Razz and his cat toys too. Peanut is the sweetest, cuddliest puppy ever and we’re so glad to have him as a part of our family,” Peanut’s new dad said.
We truly hope that Peanut will never be scared again in his life. Enjoy your new life, little guy.
