German Shepherds are serious doggos that are usually described as heroic and serious because they’re either military, police, or search and rescue canines.
However, this doesn’t mean these pups don’t have a funny side as well.
They can make you laugh, but quite often, these pooches can embarrass both you and themselves with their actions.
#1 Doggo Wanted To Taste The Rainbow
A video posted by the VCA Loomis Basin Veterinary Clinic proves that German Shepherd doggos will try anything, including balloons.
The owner of the dog is unknown as well as the exact story of how this GSD puppy got to the balloons, but as you can imagine, he probably thought these were delicious treats, and swallowed them.
I bet the owners didn’t find this funny, but rather a terrifying and embarrassing moment at the vet’s office. Fortunately, the doggie vomited all the balloons and felt fine after that.
This video can be a reminder for all pooch owners to keep their pets monitored, as balloons might represent a serious choking hazard. [1]
#2 Edible Underwear
BellaLuna shared one of the most embarrassing moments she experienced with her German Sheppie at the vet’s office.
Her beloved pet ate her thong, after which she immediately took him to the vet, who found the situation rather amusing. The vet even asked her if she’d like to have her underwear back… yikes!
#3 Dream Team
A user named Rua, who is a (not so) proud owner of two GSDs, witnessed a hilarious situation with her doggos (although it wasn’t so funny to clean the rug afterwards).
One of her pets, Juno, vomited on Rua’s shag rug (out of all the hardwood floors), and continued doing so on other rugs as well. While the owner was battling with the dark (lights were off) and the vomit all over the floor, she didn’t even notice that barfing was disappearing behind her.
“I rushed back to the lounge to find to my absolute horror and disgust that ALL of Junos barf was gone. And, Bowser was sitting there with a big smile and a delighted look on his face that said to me: “Midnight Snack, Mum!”
#4 Who Put The Door There?
Riley, a German Shepherd owned by a Redditor under the username eatcauliflower, made everyone laugh at the vet’s office, although she didn’t find it amusing at all.
The owner took her doggo for a regular checkup and vaccines, although the GSD wasn’t so fond of it and was looking for a way out as soon as they got into the waiting room.
After the examination, while paying the bill, several people approached the owner to say how lovely her GSD is. She laughed and described her as clumsy, without possibly imagining what would happen next.
As they went towards the exit, the doggo slammed the closed part of the glass door with her head and everyone laughed in the room. Even the owner had a good laugh, while Riley pulled her to get into the car as fast as she could.
#5 Hurry Up, We Gotta Go!
GSD owners who are on Reddit seem to have lots of fun with their doggos, but according to their testimonies, they also get embarrassed quite often.
A user named mannepiper shared an anecdote on Reddit about River, his GSD that seems to enjoy car rides a lot:
“I was loosely holding the leash as we approached the parking lot and when River saw this random family getting into their car, she put on a burst of super GSD speed, ripped the leash right out of my hand, and launched herself into the car. Their chihuahua was terrified, but she was just sitting in the backseat like she owned it. I still have no idea why she did it.”
All I can say is poor Chihu, I suppose she never played with a GSD in the dog park after that.

#6 China Plates Can’t Handle Me
Dating a dog owner takes a lot of patience for her/his furry buddy, as there’s always a chance the doggo might misbehave or cause an accident at your place.
Mandiah89’s boyfriend seemed like he couldn’t handle her pooch, especially after Diesel, a GSD, broke all his china plates, some of which were quite expensive and rare.
I’m sure that’s not the main reason why they broke up, but it’s not completely excluded either.
#7 Sorry, That Steak Is Mine
An unknown person sent a photo of their naughty GSD boy to Dog Shaming.
According to the photo and the caption below, this doggie ate a delicious steak that didn’t belong to him, but to his grandpa.
Although his face tells that he’s sorry, I bet he’d do it again.
#8 I Like It, I take It
I really don’t know what’s up with GSDs and underwear, but for some reason, they find them quite interesting.
Strider, a furry influencer, is quite popular on the Internet because of his shenanigans, which include taking his owner’s undies and running around the yard with them.
Although she was quite embarrassed, the owner filmed the whole situation so his fans could have a good laugh, just like she did later on.
#9 Who Let The Wind Out?
Woof, woof, woof, woof!
Just because a dog is famous doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have any embarrassing moments. Actually it’s even worse, as the owners of doggie influencers post it all online.
Moose the Legend felt extremely uncomfortable when he broke quite a loud wind in front of guests. Moose’s owner translated his body language and explained the whole situation in the video.
#10 Like It, Ma?
One woman’s trash is a German Shepherd’s treasure, according to the TikTok video Zoë Stafford posted.
She thought she was coming into a clean and tidy house, but when Zoë opened the door, all she could see were the “floor decorations” her GSD puppy left all over the house.
Zoë was not amused at all, but I’m sure she couldn’t stay mad for a long time, especially while looking at an adorable face like this:
#11 The Dog Ate The Homework
A GSD owner who posts under the username, Sunflowers, on German Shepherds Forum, wrote a hilarious anecdote that not many teachers find believable (which is why she told her kid to bring evidence to school).
Their German Shepherd, Hans, mistook the child’s homework for a delicious treat and tore it apart. The owner’s son knew there was no way the teacher would believe him, which is why he came up with an idea:
“My son was very worried, but I assured him that if he took his homework to school the way it was, his teacher and the class would have a good laugh. That is exactly what happened.”
German Shepherds might be excellent K9 officers, but they can also turn into goofy doggos that can make you laugh and angry at the same time.
However, there’s no need to be too harsh on these lovely GSD babies, as most of them already feel embarrassed enough.
