Man Who Used To Make Fun Of Toy Dogs Dedicates His Life To Rescuing Them

Admin

Sometimes, the hardest moments in life turn out to be the beginning of something so beautiful. That’s exactly what happened to Bobby Humphrey, the bodybuilder from Boonsboro, Maryland, who used to be everything but a “tiny dog guy.”

Like everybody else, Bobby had many stereotypes about different dog breeds. After all the mocking and making fun of tiny dogs, Bobby would later discover that those exact tiny canines were meant to be his destiny.

In a way, tiny dogs saved his life, and here’s how…

Bobby Humphrey Was Just A “Big Dog Guy” Back In The Days

Back then, Bobby was just a regular guy from Boonsboro, Maryland, who used to train, lay hardwood floors, and hang out with his wife. As he was a big guy himself who was quite competitive, he had a lot of stereotypes about tiny dogs.

He and his wife were proud owners of three Rottweilers, which were the “symbol of manhood” for him. Never in his life did he imagine that he would own one of those tiny dogs, such as a Chihuahua, as he was too inclined to prove that he was the “toughest one” among his friends.

However, everything changed when his wife left him on New Year’s Eve in 2016. He was deeply devastated by the breakup, and on top of all that, he injured his shoulder at the gym, which was a trigger for severe depression.

Lady Changed His Life Forever

He was feeling down for a very long period of time. He didn’t go out as much as he used to nor did he interact with very many people. Back in the day, Constance Rogers was one of the few people he only hung out with.

Connie was dedicated to helping his friend in need, and even in his hardest moments – she never let go. She used to encourage Bobby all the time to move on with his life, but she wasn’t so successful in that regard.

One day, not even realizing that this would be the turning point in Bobby’s life, she asked him if he could take care of her Chi, Lady, for a few days.

That was an unusual request for Bobby, as he himself couldn’t stand the idea of having a tiny dog in his life. However, he decided to help his friend, as he owed her for everything she did for him.

“I never thought of a little dog,” said Bobby.

Lady was known to be an aggressive dog. She wasn’t friendly with strangers, which is why neither Connie nor Bobby expected her to bond with him. But, once Lady walked into Bobby’s life – everything changed!

She became very attached to him, curling into his lap whenever possible. Not only was her aggression gone – she indeed became the friendliest little Chihuahua in the world, all thanks to Bobby!

What After Lady?

Lady turned out to be very special to him. She was the main reason for him getting up every day. They’d play, hang out, cuddle, and in a way, understand each other, which is why he knew that the day when he would have to part ways with her would be a tough one!

Lady helped him overcome his deeply rooted stereotype about tiny dogs. So, he decided to look for a furever Chi friend!

Kira, Harley, Quinn, And The List Just Goes On…

Kira was one year old when he adopted her. She had severe food aggression and wasn’t very socialized. Bobby dedicated his time and energy to adapting her to a new home, and the dog transformed into a beautiful pet in no time!

She was sweet, affectionate, and loving, and always into cuddling with her new friend. But, Bobby didn’t want to stop there!

He wanted to raise a Chihuahua from puppyhood, and in order to gain that experience, he needed a brand new dog. That’s when Harley and Quinn, Chi siblings, stepped in!

These two Chihuahuas were really fragile as a result of inbreeding when he first saw them. Providing a home for them, in a way, came naturally to Bobby, so he decided not to separate them. Both Harley and Quinn walked into Bobby’s home, and to this day, they never left!

That’s when it occurred to him – providing a home for less fortunate tiny dogs is what he really loves doing! So, he made it a mission. He even founded a sanctuary called Big Guy Littles World for helping tiny dogs that don’t have anyone to take care of them.

“The feeling of love that these dogs give me after what some of them had been through made me say, -Well, now I’m responsible for them.”

Today, Bobby has 37 tiny dogs in his home and he’s not planning to stop. As long as he has the energy, strength, and resources, he will be adopting abused, neglected, and abandoned Chis and making their life better!
