As proud dog owners, we take photos of our pooches on a daily basis, right?
I’m sure we have snaps taken in every stage of our dogs’ life, from early puppyhood to golden years.
Basically, we have photos of our pups in the beginning and at the end of their life.
But, one dog lover, a photographer, and a wonderful woman, decided to make it official.
She started a project called Dog Years, which later turned into a book deal, to show everyone the beauty of different dogs throughout their life.
Dog Years features 30 dogs and their stories, all captured by Amanda Jones’ keen eye.
“I love photographing dogs because each one is different,” she said. “I love discovering what is unique about each dog and capturing that.”
And, she truly did capture the best about each pooch!
Today, you’ll meet 19 pups and see how they looked as smol puppers and as sweet seniors.
The rest is waiting for you on Amanda’s Instagram and in her book.
1. Eleanor
The difference between Eleanor’s photos is six years. A lot has changed in the meantime. Eleanor, the Pug, aged gracefully and turned from a four-year-old pup on the left into a grayish lady on the right.
2. Georgia
One of the first pup portraits Amanda ever took was a photo of Georgia, back in 1996. Sixteen years later, Georgia showed up for a follow-up photoshoot. She was still a gorgeous mutt, and still her owner’s little girl.
To this day, this is the longest age gap taken by Jones.
3. Ruby
Ruby was a lovely Vizsla that Amanda met back in 2007. She was a young girl then. Fast-forward nine years, Ruby is a sweet old lady, but she didn’t lose her charm and that sparkle in her eyes.
4. Shumacher
Schumacher is another dog that came as a young pup to Amanda and returned as a senior. The eight-year difference left marks on ol’ Schumi, but that doesn’t diminish his cuteness.
5. Gus And Liza
When Gus and Liza first came to Amanda, they were an adult dog and a pupper. Seven years later, in 2013, Gus is a senior, and Liza is a sweet adult girl that grew twice the size of her buddy.
6. Chewy
The only thing Chewy lost in the meantime was his right eye. He still has the same charm he had as a smol pupper in 2012.
7. Katie Koo
In these ten years, Katie Koo, the beautiful Scotty, turned from jet black to silvery gray. The years only added up to her beauty.
8. Josie And Albert
Josie and Albert were the fabulous duo that showed up for the photoshoot in 2009. Ten years later, Amanda was super surprised and excited to see their little paws still walking through life together.
9. Millie
Millie followed her owner, Hallie, through her school years as a loyal sidekick. Hallie is now finishing college and Millie is still with her, more loyal and loving than ever.
10. Abby
Abby, the glamorous Havanese girl, is just a shade lighter after nine years. She’s still a beauty that steals breaths away.
11. Juno
Hazel and Juno grew up together. These ten years brought a lot of changes, but Juno is still sticking by her side, serving as a true friend.
12. Nora
Nora didn’t age for a second, even though it had been 11 years between two photoshoots.
13. Zamboni
Zamboni stayed handsome for all thirteen years between his two photoshoots. Although he’s a senior in the second photo, his kind eyes are still full of love and puppy playfulness!
14. Felina
Felina is not with us anymore, but the memory of her sweet temper lives. Rescued as an abandoned mixed-breed girl, Felina got the chance to live her best life full of people, play, and other animal friends.
15. Vasco
Vasco’s blep has stayed the same for all these years. He’s still a big goof at heart.
16. Lily
Lily, the OG pup of project Dog Years, is no longer alive, but the memory of her is still present every time we look at her photos. She was such a gorgeous girl, both in the left and right photo.
17. Morgan
Thirteen years have passed since the first photo, and Morgan was able to pull off the same facial expression he had back in 2008.
18. Abe, Ike, And Dutch
This fantastic trio stayed fantastic for all these 10 years. Abe, Ike, and Dutch have aged nicely and kept those big grins on their face.
19. Benny
Lastly, here’s Amanda and her sweet boy, Benny. They were spending his 13th birthday back in 2021 when the second photo was taken. According to Amanda, Benny is one of the sweetest dogs she has ever owned.
