Abused Dog Who Spent Years Chained To A Concrete Floor Now Enjoys Life Of Comfort

Admin

Having a dog is a pretty common thing for most people in the world now. You take them for walks, bathe them, give them treats and belly rubs, and in return, they become the best companion you can ask for.

Sadly, not everyone deserves such a companion. There are a lot of cases of people mistreating or outright abusing their dogs and putting them through horrible things.

Statistics show that 28% of all violent crimes are related to animal abuse, and around 65% of all abused animals are dogs.[1]

The dog that we will be talking about in this story is one example of such horrifying treatment that happens all around the world.

New Bright Future

Meet Lola, an abused dog who was chained to concrete in a dark garage for 8 horrible years, not being able to enjoy running or walking or even seeing sunlight for most of the time. Fortunately, all of that changed when she was saved by AMA Animal Rescue

After being rescued, she spent time living with her new mom, Charlene von Saher, in Manhattan, New York.

After being adopted, Lola quickly realized that she has all the comfort she can wish for, and she spends her days relaxing on the couch and taking long naps.

Von Saher told The Dodo: She figured out where her little beds were, and what was soft and what was comfortable for her.

In the short time she has been living with her new owner, she has slept everywhere. She tested every place in the house for comfort and found many cozy places to curl up in and nap. If it is comfortable, it is good enough for her.

Von Saher said: She actually took a throw pillow off of my bed and put it into her dog bed. When I came home, her head was on it — she literally made herself a little bed in her bed with my pillow.

A hobby she especially enjoys is sleeping with several cushions underneath her.

Von Saher expresses her love for Lola, saying she is the best dog she could find, as Lola never fails to underlie the importance of enjoying free time and just relaxing.

In an interview with The Dodo, Von Saher said: I think she looks better and better each day. They always say, ‘When you adopt a dog, you’re really saving two.’ That’s because you’re taking one, and you’re opening up a space for another dog to come into the shelter or the rescue group.

Even though the world can be an incredibly cruel place for animals sometimes, it’s stories like this that can restore hope in a better future for animals and our pets.
