In our dogs’ presence, we feel understood and loved. They can be our true soulmates.

Looking For Another Home
While doing some volunteer work for a women’s shelter in 2015, Khristina met a woman who was in an abusive relationship. She came to them asking for help.
While trying to make sure she and her kids were safe, the woman was also worried about her children’s two puppies. Her partner threatened to hurt them and she was in a hurry to find them a new home.
Khristina wanted to have a dog for a very long time. After hearing the woman’s story, she agreed to meet the woman and one of her puppies.
That night, Khristina had a very vivid dream about a dog. In her dream, her dog was with her from a very young age. She felt like they had spent a lifetime together. When she woke up, her dream felt so real.
The next day, she met a woman and her puppy, Luna. Luna was 9 to 10 weeks old at the time. As soon as Luna saw Khristina, she felt drawn to her. She approached her and Kristina picked her up. Shortly after that, she fell asleep in her arms.
A True Soulmate
Khristina said that Luna came into her life when she needed her the most.
“I had this opportunity to go and start a business in Montana with my best friend, but it was very scary and there was a lot of going on in my life at the time and she couldn’t have come at a better time.”
After adopting Luna, Khristina’s life changed. It was Luna who inspired her to help others more than before. She became even more passionate about rescuing. She has fostered horses, goats, dogs, and other animals.
In 2015, Khristina welcomed another dog, Sweetheart, to their home, and she and Luna became best friends.
Luna was extremely calm. Other animals could sense that and they felt at peace in her presence. She was the one who welcomed new animals to the pack.
She had a special bond with Foxy Brown, a rodeo horse. He was her soulmate in the animal world. Unfortunately, he got sick. Since he needed a lot of care and attention, Khristina spent most of her time nursing him.
It was at that time that Luna and her mom became inseparable. Luna would sit with her mom as she took care of Foxy Brown day after day.
Khristina credits Luna for being her soulmate.
“Luna and I are two halves of the same soul.”
Their bond is so powerful that Luna can read her mom’s emotions.
“Even when we are watching a movie, all I have to do is kind of gasp and she’s on alert, like what’s going on.”
Khristina found “the most loving, protective and loyal friend” in Luna.
A Happy Ending
They love walking and hiking together, and Luna shares a strong connection with Khristina’s son.
After hearing Luna’s story, many people wanted to know what happened to Luna’s previous owner and Luna’s sister.
On September 6th, in 2022, Khristina shared on Instagram that Luna’s first owner succeeded in escaping her abusive relationship. She started a new life with her kids in another city and they were happy. Just like Luna, her sister found her forever home and a loving family.
In July 2023, sixteen-year-old Sweetheart went to doggy heaven. Luna and her mom are helping each other overcome their grief. They stand together and cherish the wonderful memories they made with her.
