Stray Dog Covered In Wounds Showers His New Fosters With Affection

Admin

Sometimes, the best things happen when you least expect it and sorrow quickly turns into joy. Well, that’s exactly what happened to Shelby Davis, the director of Soul Dog Rescue, from Fort Lupton, Colorado.

At 11 p.m., Shelby found herself away from her hometown and with no place to spend the night. Little did she know that in some random parking lot, there would be a little creature needing help more than she did.

Luckily, Shelby immediately knew what to do.

A Pawsitive Surprise

That day, Shelby Davis drove almost 10 hours from Denver, her hometown, to Arizona for a work event; however, she didn’t realize that her hotel’s check-in time ended at 8.30 p.m.

When she arrived at 11 p.m., there was no way she could spend the night there. Davis started circling the parking lot, trying to come up with a plan, when she saw two heartbroken eyes staring at her.

Since Davis had a lot of experience with stray dogs, she immediately knew those soulful eyes were of a dog needing help.

She quickly took the dog in her arms, put him in a crate in the van, and gave him some food.

The little pup – later named Braydon – was visibly sick.

He was emaciated, covered in wounds, his fur was patchy due to severe mange, and he was sick from a tick-borne disease.

Once he was fed and safe in Davis’ van, he completely let his guard down and warmed up. “He was very happy to be off the streets,” Molly Steele, the pup’s current foster mom, told The Dodo.

Davis drove back to Denver throughout the whole night, and the next morning, she brought Braydon to the vet for much-needed medical help.

Soul Dog Rescue volunteer, Molly Steele, fell in love with Braydon as soon as she saw him, and she had to foster him.

When Braydon met his new foster family, it was love at first sight.

“Braydon immediately loved being with his new foster family. He would not stop giving hugs and kisses. It was like he already knew us,” Steele told The Dodo.

Braydon’s reaction to finally having a family and a soft bed to sleep on was so emotional. He couldn’t stop giving hugs and kisses. “I don’t think he had ever slept on something so soft,” Steele said.

As he got better, his personality started to come alive.

“He loves to give kisses, snuggle on the couch, play with his toys, and romp with our other dogs. He loves any person that has come over,” Steele wrote on her Facebook.

When Braydon gets fully healthy, he’ll be ready for adoption.

“He is going to make someone an awesome addition to their household. If I didn’t have three dogs already, he would definitely be staying here ❤️🐾🐶,” Steele said.
