When Lisa, from Big Love Animal Rescue, in Los Angeles, got a call informing her about a dog who had lived in the desert for over a year, she knew she had to help.
Lisa wasn’t really aware of how difficult this rescue would be, but luckily, she had a good trick up her sleeve.
Help Is On The Way
Even though the Los Angeles desert is vast, Lisa managed to find the Pit Bull pretty fast. However, she was facing another difficulty. This dog was a runner!
The poor dog was so anxious that she just kept running from one side of the field to the other, not trusting any hooman who approached her.
“I couldn’t catch her. She’d just ran and ran and ran,” said Lisa.
Lisa then thought it would be for the best if she didn’t stress the dog any further, so she called it a day. However, she cleverly set up a trap, leaving it there overnight and hoping she would catch the little pittie that way.
The very next day, she made her way back to the desert to check on the trap and what she saw made her very happy.
The little running pittie was safe and sound, caught in the trap and patiently waiting to be rescued and brought to safety.
New Life
What worried Lisa next was what would happen when she lets the running dog out.
To her surprise, when the dog stepped out of the cage, she was quite calm and collected. It was as if she surrendered, knowing that she was in safe hands.
Naming her Pepper, Lisa took her to the vet for a good checkup. Afterward, she decided to be her foster mom for the time being and take her home.
Almost immediately, she really warmed up. She just lit up like a Christmas tree.
Pepper looked like a brand-new dog with her foster mom. She still loves running around, but one of her new favorite things to do is roll on the ground, making Lisa smile.
She also loves all this new attention. Whenever Lisa would take Pepper into her arms, she would just melt away, not wanting to leave the warm embrace.
However, Lisa did find her a forever home, which did not take away a single ounce of that love.
Pepper is now a part of a big family who loves and adores her, giving her as much attention as a doggo needs, along with a lot of space to run around and be free.
The Big Love Animal Rescue captured Pepper’s entire transformation from being a roadrunner to a dog who loves to be cuddled. Check it out!
