Froggy, The Rescue Beagle, Is Thrilled To Get His Very First Toy

Admin

Words can’t describe how brokenhearted I feel every time I hear stories of animals being mistreated and denied their basic rights.

One such story is about cruel breeders who kept innocent animals in facilities similar to prisons. Being deprived of the loving touch of a human hand, the pups became fearful and uncertain of their future.

Froggy, an adorable and terrified Beagle, was confined his whole life in such a horrible place. He was denied the chance to be a dog and to have a wonderful family. The sweet pup never discovered life outside the walls of the cruel facility.

Fortunately, good humans rescued him from the hands of the merciless people, giving him the opportunity to start a new life.

Is he going to be able to leave his past behind and discover the meaning of true love?

When Froggy, the Beagle, came to the Humane Society Of Broward County, in Florida, he was a nervous and insecure pup.

He was one of the 4,000 Beagles that had been rescued from the mass-dog breeding facility, Envigo, in Virginia, that supplied animals to research laboratories.

The conditions at Envigo were shocking. After being subjected to cruel animal testing, the dogs were usually euthanized.

Mother Beagles were given food that contained maggots, mold, and feces.

The Humane Society of Broward County was one of the shelters that took the rescued dogs in and helped them find a home.

The moment the shelter staff met the Beagles for the first time, they became deeply saddened to witness the state they were in.

The pups were neglected and in need of medical and dental care, and they had serial numbers tattooed on their ears.

Having been rescued, all the dogs were relieved to finally be free. The shelter staff made them feel loved and cared for

One of the pups, which they named Froggy, was too special to be ignored. He felt terrified and uneasy, being unable to forget his suffering.

Wishing to appease the nervous pooch and make him feel more comfortable, his caregivers gave him his first toy. He was thrilled.

“[He] carried his stuffed frog in his mouth for hours while whimpering with joy,” said Susan Leonti, the shelter’s digital marketing specialist.

The plush toy became the friend he never had. Froggy didn’t want to be separated from it, and he carried it with him wherever he went. It was his pacifier.

Whenever the shelter staff stopped by his kennel, he had his favorite toy in his mouth. On the days when the toy had to be cleaned, they replaced it with another one, but the dog was eagerly waiting to be reunited with it as soon as it was clean.

On August 29th, in 2022, the Humane Society of Broward County shared happy news that Froggy had been adopted.

When he left the shelter in the arms of his parents, the pup took his plush toy with him. After coming to his forever home, he realized that the world was a joyful place and he was looking forward to exploring it.

Having discovered the joy of having a loving family, Froggy was no longer a nervous pooch. He didn’t need to carry his toy everywhere he went.

Thanks to the endless love his family gave him, he gained confidence and transformed into a happy and confident pup. His plushie still holds a special place in his heart.

Froggy survived the terrible ordeal at the breeding facility, but unfortunately, many dogs didn’t make it.

Using animals for product testing can never be justified. They must never be turned into victims. We urge companies to switch to alternative testing that includes using human cells, also known as in-vitro methods. (1)

Let’s make the world a safer place for all animals. We have to be their protectors. We must never let them down.
