One day, a trash collector was going about his day, doing his job as usual. Then, all of a sudden, he saw a very weak pup in one of the trash cans.
He immediately contacted an animal shelter, asking them to come and help.
Rescue Mission
One of the rescuers came as soon as she could. When she saw the dog, she was quite worried since he was in very critical condition. She gently touched him, and when the dog responded, she was quite relieved.
As she helped him sit up, he looked at her with hope in his eyes, telling her he was ready to be saved.
She slowly picked him up and carried him to her car. He was super exhausted and just laid down, not moving for the entire ride.
Unfortunately, the vet was quite far away so it was a race against time in order to help this adorable little pup.
Road To Recovery
When they finally arrived, he was rushed in for some tests. The vet said that he was about 5 years old, with a very weak heart rate and unresponsive pupils. He suggested that this may have been caused by some kind of traumatic injury to the brain.
The woman who rescued him decided to bring him home for close monitoring, along with his prescribed medication. The vet told her to be prepared for the worst, but the woman did not give up hope.
He even had other dogs looking after him. It was as if they understood that something bad was happening and tried to fix it by inviting him to play with them. Even the cat came along and offered some cuddles.
After a few days, he was able to sit up and drink water all on his own. However, he did refuse to eat or take his medicine.
Thankfully, his rescuer thought of a really good idea and made him some porridge in which she put his medicine. He ate the entire thing!
After days of love and care, this little pup was able to get up and walk all on his own. Even though he couldn’t quite walk in a straight line and his head was tilting, he was still showing progress.
His foster mom was eager to go to the vet again to check up on how he is doing. The vet was shocked when he saw him, he looked like a brand-new dog.
Not only did he gain a lot of healthy weight, but his reactions improved a lot!
He just had to take a couple of shots, and being so brave and strong, he took them like a champ.
New Life
He adored spending time with his foster mom who loved and cared for him. But, it was time for this dog, now called Keith, to find his forever home.
When a kindhearted woman heard about Keith’s story, she was more than happy to adopt him. She gave him a loving home, full of fun, love, and attention.
