Even the most experienced, full-time canine rescuers sometimes find it hard to execute a rescue mission – as it is just too emotionally upsetting!
When a woman received a call about an adult Pittie wandering in a truck yard – she immediately rushed into action, never expecting to find what was one of the saddest sights she ever saw!

The Heartbroken Mama
Suzette Hall, of Logan’s Legacy, from Irvine, South California, wasted no time and immediately arrived at the spot to try and help the Pittie she heard about over the phone.
When she finally spotted the white and gray female hiding in a truck yard, she instantly decoded her sorrow and some of the saddest eyes she had ever seen.
This Pittie recently had a litter – and unfortunately, all of her babies passed away. She tried to protect them, but according to Hall, the puppies were eaten by coyotes, leaving this Pittie mom devastated.
“I have never in my life seen something so sad, she is absolutely traumatized
She was in an industrial area, she ran frantically around a truck yard, crying for her babies,” Hall wrote on her Facebook.
Hall Was Determined To Help Her Heal
Being a bereaved mother herself, Suzette perfectly understood the pain the Pittie she named “June” felt.
She slowly approached her, but the dog was just too scared, and hid under two-foot-high stacked shelves. She was literally shaking in fear and trauma, but Hall was patient.
She offered her food and lured her into a humane trap she set, after which she picked her up and put her in her car. June was finally safe!
Hall gave her a much-needed hug and made sure she relaxed a little, but she was still evidently shocked. All she now needed was a time and place to heal in – and Hall knew the answer!
Recovering In A Foster Home
After subjecting her to a vet exam in a hospital in South California, Hall found June the perfect foster home.
A woman offered to help June during her recovery, and the fact that she already had another Pittie mom who had also lost her babies was already a go! Hall just felt that this family would be an excellent match for June – and she was right!
“She is gorgeous and all dried up significantly. Just a week ago we rescued her. She was so traumatized and missing her puppies so much. But Today she is so happy. Her sadness has turned into joy,” wrote Hall.
June came out of her shell and started feeling so much better around her new foster mom and her Pittie sister.
It’s Officially A Foster Fail
Even though it all started out as a “temporary home” idea, her foster mom couldn’t help but adopt June – for good!
“It’s officially a foster fail. June has been adopted,” Suzette wrote on August 3rd, 2023.
Soon after her arrival, her foster mom realized that June belonged in her home and she just couldn’t let her go. She’s getting along with her sister so beautifully that it would be just wrong to break that bond.
June literally blossomed into an enthusiastic and vibrant dog around her new family – and that was the greatest gift her new mom could ever ask for!
Once a traumatized Pittie with a sad history, June now shares the happiest future with her new family!
