When Orlando Police Department officer, Michelle Rohlf, arrived at work that day, she couldn’t have imagined the surprise she was about to have.
Right at the beginning of her shift, she responded to a call of service and she headed to the scene with her squad.
Upon their arrival, they arrested a woman who was suspected to have committed theft. Orlando Police Department officers were left surprised when they realized that the woman wasn’t alone. In a dog stroller that she brought with her, there was a tangled mass of fur.
After Officer Rohlf approached the messy furball to take a better look, she saw a pair of sad dog’s eyes looking at her. She was heartbroken to see him in such a condition. He was very quiet and he didn’t move.
Sullivan’s Life Starts To Change For The Better
Concerned for his well-being, Rohlf took the dog, named Sullivan, to Orange County Animal Services, located in Orlando, Florida. It was obvious that his owner neglected him. The doggo’s matted fur was covered in urine.
Since Sullivan’s owner was unable to reclaim him, the pup remained at the shelter.
As soon as Dannielle Southon, the founder of Central Florida Fosters, saw the photo of the pooch, she was deeply saddened to see the state he was in. She offered to take him to her rescue and to foster him.
Before he left the shelter, a groomer helped Sullivan get rid of his matted fur. Everyone was stunned after he showed his pawdorable face that had been hidden all this time. He looked like an entirely different doggo.
As soon as Southon met him for the first time, she realized how wonderful he was. The pup kept licking her face and giving her sweet kisses.
Sullivan moved to a foster home where he got the much-needed love and care.
At first, he was timid, but thanks to the love of his foster family, he started coming out of his shell. With each passing day, he became happier and more confident.
Emotional Reunion Between The Pup And His Rescuer
The little pooch didn’t forget his rescuer who helped him, and thanks to Southon, he got the chance to be reunited with her.
Sullivan was glad to meet his favorite officer again and he jumped out of the car when he saw her.
The officer couldn’t believe it was the same dog that she rescued! He was unrecognizable. Sullivan happily ran to her arms and hugged her. They were both overjoyed to see each other again.
The reunion was very emotional for both Southon and Rohlf.
“She cried, I teared up. [Just] seeing how happy he was with her was so heartwarming. She couldn’t get over how great he looked, and kept saying how he seemed like a totally different dog now,” Southon said.
Sullivan is now staying with his foster mom, Heather, and he has begun searching for a forever home. I’m absolutely sure that this delightful pooch will soon find pawrents who will love him like he truly deserves.
