Pit Bull That Once Cried In His Kennel Finds Happiness In A New Home

Admin

All shelter dogs live in hope of finding their forever family. They yearn to be loved and to have a place they can call home.

Hogan, a Pit Bull, was one of the overlooked dogs at a shelter, and he was put on their euthanasia list. He almost lost all hope of ever getting his happy ending. Little did he know that better days were ahead of him.

Let’s see how his heartwarming story unfolds.

Hogan was picked up as a stray and brought to a shelter in California on November 1st, 2018. His stray holding period ended on November 6th and he was then up for adoption.

Unfortunately, nobody adopted the sweet pooch and his name was put on their euthanasia list. Hogan was heartbroken. He often retreated to the corner of his kennel and cried.

When volunteers who run Saving Riverside Shelter Dogs learned about this, they reached out to Ozzy And Friends Rescue – Save A Life, in Inglewood, California, and asked them to save Hogan’s life.

As soon as the rescue staff heard that sweet Hogan would be put down, they rushed to take him in.

The moment Hogan sat in the staff members’ car, he felt relieved. He knew that he was safe at last and that happier days were coming.

He was over the moon that he got another chance at life. He couldn’t stop smiling and licking his rescuers’ hands.

When Hogan arrived at the rescue, he felt hopeful that somebody would soon pick him out of the crowd, take him home, and give him the love he always dreamed of having.

Hogan didn’t enjoy spending time with other animals and he didn’t feel relaxed when they approached him. For this reason, the rescue staff thought he would do best being the only dog in his new home.

He was a playful dog and loved playing outdoors.

Sadly, years passed and Hogan continued living at the rescue.

He watched other residents leaving the rescue in their parents’ arms, and he always stayed behind. Nobody chose him.

Finally, in 2021, his luck began to change.

Evelyn Perez-Benitez decided to foster him, and Hogan started a new life. The more time his foster mom spent with Hogan, the more she fell in love with him. She adopted him in April 2022, and made him a permanent member of her family.

Perez-Benitez can’t picture her life without Hogan. She loves being his mom and she wants to give him the best life.

“I do everything I can for him. I want to give him the best life possible because he is my family,” said Perez-Benitez.

Hogan often posts updates about his everyday life and his hobbies on his Instagram account. He loves swimming and going on hikes with his favorite human… his mom.
