We already know that dogs are some of the most compassionate and caring animals on this planet.
Their empathy for other living beings is what sets them apart in such an amazing way. Our furry friends are always there for us and anyone who needs their help.
In this story, we will talk about a very kind Great Dane who helped his foster sibling deal with anxiety in a very sweet way.
Tofu’s Separation Anxiety
When Jordan first took Tofu in her care from a shelter in Florida, she realized quickly that he had pretty bad separation anxiety and did not want to be away from her.
This also meant that he was a pretty great escape artist, as he did just about anything to stay close to his foster mom.
Jordan told The Dodo: He was immediately glued to my side, like I was his protector.
She also noticed that he was really shy and reserved, which meant that he would rarely play with other dogs who were living there.
Jordan continues by saying: He was definitely under 100 pounds at the time when he should be weighing 110, 115.
It was time for a new mission, and that was to fatten him up a bit, at least until he was closing in on a more normal weight.
When he was surrendered to Jordan, the woman from Florida who sent him told her that he was also partially blind and deaf.
It took Tofu a while to get used to living next to other dogs, but they were also very gentle with her and never pushed her into playing with them.
The Sweetest Gesture
His first friend was Jordan’s Great Dane, Zoot, and it was clear right from the start that the two enjoyed being in each other’s company.
To make it better for them, she would also place Tofu’s bed next to Zoot’s so that the two could nap next to one another.
Whenever Jordan would leave, one camera in the house would pick up on his behavior, and it was now apparent more than ever that he could not handle being away from her for too long.
Zoot, being a very smart and kind Great Dane, decided to comfort Tofu by laying next to him when he was having an anxiety attack in order to help him cope with it easier.
It was just the sweetest gesture one foster sibling could do for another, and it really shows just how much compassion dogs have.
As time went on, Tofu became a lot more confident and outgoing, and would not hesitate playing with her other foster siblings.
His weight had also significantly increased, which was great. Jordan said: After like a month and a half, he was starting to fill out much nicer.
Now was the time for the big news. Tofu had finally found his forever home. His new family was just amazing and Jordan couldn’t be happier for him.
