When a 10-month-old puppy named Ava was surrendered to Hoke County Animal Shelter in North Carolina, she was completely devastated.
Ava was a beautiful Husky Pitbull mix, but sadly, her heart was broken by her previous owner. According to the shelter, she was abandoned due to a landlord issue.
She desperately wanted her favorite people to come back, but they had betrayed her.
Sad And Heartbroken
“She was absolutely terrified and sad, understandably,” Kristi Pylant, who works at the shelter, told The Dodo.
Kristi was at the shelter the day little Ava was surrendered. She saw firsthand how terrified and sad Ava truly was, so she tried everything to cheer her up.
“After spending time with her, we became buddies,” Kristi said.
As her broken heart started to heal, the shelter staff could see how precious this puppy really was. They learned that she loved kids and was great with other dogs, too.
They wanted nothing more but to find a loving home for beautiful Ava – a home that will never abandon her again. After all, she truly deserved it.
Thankfully, it didn’t take long for Ava to find her perfect home.
A Smile Worth A Thousand Words
A visitor came to the North Carolina shelter, and while looking at the dogs, she completely fell in love with Ava. That was it – Ava was getting adopted.
The said visitor decided that she was going to provide this beautiful puppy with a loving home for the rest of her life.
Ava was simply ecstatic – she knew she was finally going home.
Kristi Pylant, who took care of sweet Ava and helped her during her stay at the shelter, was also there to see her little girl leave for her forever home.
Although overjoyed to be going home, Ava did not forget the person who took care of her when she needed it the most.
Standing at the other side of the counter, sweet Ava paused to extend her paw in gratitude for everything Kristi and others did for her. It was her own way of saying ‘thank you!’
“It was so sweet for her to offer me her paw when she was getting adopted,” Kristi commented.
While Ava’s arrival at the shelter might have initially felt like the end of her journey, it actually marked the beginning of a new, brighter chapter.
As the saying goes, “everything happens for a reason”, and it was through the unwavering efforts of Pylant, her colleagues, and the embrace of Ava’s new family that a promising new beginning unfolded.
