One woman had the privilege of witnessing a remarkable moment, which quickly became a testament to the enduring and unconditional friendship between humans and their canine friends.
To most dog owners, dogs are their whole life.
They are not just pets, but the most loyal confidants and unwavering companions standing by our side through life’s journey.
One day, Gemma Colón decided to go to a restaurant called Local 92 – a lovely East Village establishment; however, besides a lovely meal, she encountered an even lovelier sight.
The Purest Friendship
When Gemma entered the terrace of the New York restaurant, she immediately noticed a heartwarming sight – a man was enjoying a charming dinner date with none other than his dog.
“I was presented with one of the most unexpectedly heartwarming views,” Gemma told The Dodo. “I noticed this dog seated across from his owner, perched up on a chair, acting like an absolute proper gentleman.”
Her heart melted at the sight of the two of them.
She was fortunately seated right in front of the lovely duo and could enjoy the heartwarming view for the rest of her dinner.
The dog behaved like a true gentleman, sitting on his chair politely and enjoying his own bowl of water and gazing around.
Some may not be able to imagine a large dog sitting politely on a chair in a restaurant full of people, but this pup did just that.
In fact, Gemma commented on how well-behaved the dog was, which made me believe the two had shared more than one dinner date. She told The Dodo:
“The man was doing a crossword puzzle and sipping a glass of red wine with his meal. His date (the dog) was enjoying his own bowl of water, which he slurped politely. It was really amazing how well-behaved the pup was. I saw better table manners displayed by this dog than I’ve seen from some humans.”
Since Gemma found the moment incredibly heartwarming, she decided to film it and share it on her social media. She wrote: “The purest friendship I ever witnessed 🥺”
Other restaurant customers found the scene incredibly sweet, and could not help but smile at their lovely exchange.
“I heard a waitress comment on how good the dog was at one point, and the man replied saying he brings the dog with him everywhere. It definitely seemed like a very pleasant date, with lovely company,” Gemma said.
The pair were even loved online, with many commenting on how wholesome everything seemed.
One person said: “This is the perfect date. I’ve had similar dates with my dog,” while another commented, “This is totally normal and ok. It’s like taking your kid out for dinner.”
