A Loving Family Adopted A Pup Only To Soon Discover His Bizarre But Cute Habit

Admin

Since dogs evolved from wolves a long time ago, so many species have appeared that if you are not an expert, you cannot tell which one it is.

This is especially the case recently with regard to the mixing of different breeds in order to obtain one with the best characteristics.

Although this sounds great at first, it can often go in another, unwanted direction. Some dogs may look “silly” and have countless health problems as a consequence.

This is the sad truth, but even such dogs are eager for love and attention if not more than “ordinary” ones. And, they can reciprocate it a hundredfold if they find themselves in a caring environment.

One such dog is the main character of today’s story.

This Dog Had To Go Through A Lot

The story of Oscar, a Pit Bull that looks like a seal pup, begins in a really rough place where he is in really rough shape as well.

Oscar was found by an animal control officer, and he and his colleagues soon found out that he was likely abandoned due to his numerous health problems. Those problems were mainly the result of careless breeding.

Because he was in such critical condition, the officers got in touch with Bullied Breeds Rescue, from Billerica, Massachusetts, which soon continued taking care of him. If they had not reacted so quickly, Oscar would probably have been euthanized.

After a veterinary examination, they found out that this poor dog was suffering from a limp, crusty eyes, cropped ears, and a nasty infection.

Although it was not easy to find someone who would deal with all the problems this dog had, one woman with a big heart, named Aly, decided to become his foster mom.

With the help of the whole team, she managed to solve a good part of his health problems. However, his ears were so infected that they realized that surgery was inevitable.

The operation was successful, but in addition to losing his ears, Oscar also became deaf. It was a very high price they had to pay to keep this brave boy alive.

However, nothing was able to restrain this strong spirit, and Oscar, despite all his issues, bravely walked forward in life. Luck always follows the brave, so it smiled on him very quickly.

And, He Finally Found A Loving And Understanding Family

After being pulled off the euthanasia list, 6 months of various treatments in a foster home in Massachusetts, as well as 3 major surgeries, Oscar finally found his forever home.

Aly was contacted by Kristin and Ryan, an animal-loving couple who were deeply moved by Oscar’s story and who expressed their wish to be his further support on his life’s journey.

When he came to his new family, he fit in very quickly. His new fur sister, pittie Ramona, as well as his little kittie sister, Sprite, were waiting for him.

Both members of his new family were rescued and adopted not so long ago. That’s why everyone understood each other so well right away.

Oscar quickly began to live to the fullest in this home full of love and understanding. As his new mother, Kristin, said, he was such a happy, jolly, sassy little boy.

His new nickname was “Ham” because as Kristin stated, he was just like a little ham cartoon.

Despite all the difficulties, Ham blossomed so quickly and began to radiate positive energy, which is really a testament to how little of love and understanding dogs need in order to shine in their full glory.

It also seemed as if nothing strange had ever happened to him.

In Their Eyes, His Quirky Habit Made Him Even Cuter

However, Oscar had one strange habit that became his trademark. His absolute favorite thing to do was something that they have dubbed “slothing”.

“His foster actually noticed this very strange and peculiar thing that he does where he really enjoys when things tickle or graze over his face, in his back,” Kristin said “And hell go really, really slow through it and just soak up all the good vibes.”

They did not judge him for that, but tried to do everything to make it easier for him.

So, they decided to set up slothing posts around the house, which were little tassels and yarn hanging from dowels, to a rock outside, as well as planting a whole garden for him to be able to sloth through.

They were so full of understanding towards him that they even always stopped next to two shrubs so that Oscar could do his thing.

It could be said that it was not at all easy to go through all this, but all this quirkiness and peculiarity of Oscar only inspired his family to love and care for him even more. This is what gave him the strength to shine brightly every day.

They loved him the way he was.
