Woman Saw A Trapped Dog On A Stolen Bus And Rushed To Help Him

Dogs are one of the sweetest and most adorable creatures who are deserving of our infinite love. All dog owners are responsible for giving their furry family members the best possible life.

I feel brokenhearted knowing that many heartless dog owners mistreat and abuse the innocent doggos who believed that their owners would make them feel loved and safe.

Lexie is one of those abandoned pups who knows how it feels to be betrayed and disappointed by the people she considered her family.

Dumped in a bus during scorching hot weather in Brooklyn, New York, Lexie was refusing to give up on herself. She started howling and crying, hoping that somebody would hear her.

In July 2022, Melissa Geerlof and her boyfriend, Ben, were returning from a gym when they heard strange cries coming from an abandoned bus. As they approached the bus, they saw a Pittie peeking out of a window. She was crying and asking for help.

They tried to get her out of the bus, but she was trapped. The couple immediately called the police. The neighbors gathered to help, too, by bringing food and water for the dog. The pup was very sweet and kissed their hands while they fed her.

Melissa and Ben stayed with Lexie until the police came.

Once they arrived at the scene, the police officers told the couple that the bus had been stolen. They planned to take the dog to a shelter, but they believed that she would most likely be euthanized unless somebody took her home.

As soon as Melissa heard what could happen to Lexie, she took the sweet Pittie home and decided to foster her.

She gave her a nice bath and Lexie felt better.

The next morning, Melissa took her to the vet. The pup’s skin, eyes, and ears were infected. Lexie didn’t have a microchip, and her owner couldn’t be found.

“She was missing hair on the back half of her body from stress. I don’t ever want her to feel like she’s ever gonna be left alone again,“ Melissa said.

It was clear that the dog was neglected.

After a couple of days, Melissa learned that the person who stole the bus was not Lexie’s owner. She felt heartbroken when she heard that Lexie’s owner was abusive to her, and that he often left her in the hot bus for hours.

Melissa fell in love with her even more than before, and she wanted to keep the adorable Pittie and give her a home. She hoped that Roadie, their other dog, would accept Lexie as her sister.

“Roadie loves her space, and it was a big adjustment for her. She immediately got along with Roadie, and in my head I was, like, ‘OK, this is it,’” Melissa said.

Although Ben wasn’t keen on having another dog in the house, Lexie ended up stealing his heart. The cute pooch liked cuddling with Ben, licking his face and giving him kisses.

Seeing that Lexie fit in with her family so well, Melissa was convinced that Lexie would stay with them forever.

Searching For A Forever Home

Unfortunately, Lexie’s relationship with Roadie was not as good as it seemed in the beginning.

Later on, Melissa shared on Instagram that Roadie and Lexie ended up not getting along and that they often attacked each other.

Both Ben and Melissa tried very hard to keep the cute Pittie, and they provided her with training, but unfortunately, the pups continued fighting.

Although they loved Lexie with all their heart, they decided to help her find another family.

After contacting and begging numerous rescues to help Lexie, they finally found two kind-hearted people who took her in. The affectionate doggo is now in Virginia, looking for her forever home.

Melissa believes that the sweet Pittie would soon find her forever parents who would love her as much as she and Ben loved her.

We are grateful to Melissa and Ben for saving Lexie’s life and for giving her all their love. We’re sure that a sweet and affectionate pooch like Lexie will soon get adopted and get the happy ending that she deserves.
