We all know how devastating it can be when someone is neglected or abandoned, not to mention both. For dogs, especially little ones, it can be so heartbreaking that some of them forget how to express basic dog behaviors.
Today’s sad story speaks exactly about 18 poor dogs that were abandoned and left wandering the streets of Whatcom County, in Washington State.
In this specific case, all the dogs belong to a noble and popular breed of Doodles.
We can only conclude that they came from one irresponsible owner, which makes the whole story even more terrifying.
Don’t Even Want To Come Out Of Their Kennels
You know that something is really bad when a dog doesn’t even want to step out of his comfort zone in the kennel. The little ones were especially afraid, as the age range of these dogs was between 5 months and 4 years.
Since they weren’t even half a year in this world, these poor babies didn’t even have the chance to learn how to interact once they came to the shelter of the Whatcom Humane Society (WCHS).
“Negative interaction with people or just no interaction with people, you know, no interaction with people can be just as bad…” said one of the volunteers from WCHS, meaning that consequences can sometimes even be fatal for a dog’s well-being.
Fortunately, this great team of people from WCHS acted quickly and gave these Doodle poopies a new chance, rescuing them from the cold streets of Whatcom County.
Chewing a leg of a table, chewing a toy, and curiosity were all signs that there was hope and that these dogs would certainly be okay after their rehabilitation. The good always prevails over the bad, and this is just one of many examples.
But, what are the bad ones?
Exploitation Of Helpless Doodles To Make A Profit
According to the World Animal Foundation, almost 3.9 million dogs are abandoned annually, which is an alarming number. This issue is a bit more specific at its core, not just because of the number of puppies, but also because of the reason.
It was already emphasized earlier in the text that all 18 dogs are Doodles, and I assume that most of you know that these dogs are a popular and expensive breed.
“It appears that they are part of a large-scale breeding operation,” said Laura Clark, a Human Society executive director, and continued: “The bottom has fallen out of that, and for whatever reason, instead of finding the appropriate place for animals, they’ve been abandoned.”
It is obvious that these little ones did not satisfy the appetites of their masters, so they were cruelly thrown on the street and left to fend for themselves.
The police are on the ground now, and they are trying their best to either find this coldhearted owner or the organization that is responsible for this heinous act – or if you like it, a true crime against animals.
Aside from that, the WCHS is asking for the public’s help in identifying the person or persons responsible for abandoning these dogs. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office or the WCHS directly.
Good People Always Rise To The Surface
Fortunately, this is another story with a happy ending, thanks to all those loving people who immediately took action and donated money to provide medical care, grooming, and other necessary services to these sweet little boys and girls.
The team of dedicated medical professionals from WCHS is now able to provide all the needed care for the puppies before they are ready to be adopted by their new hooman parents.
At the time of writing, they weren’t ready for adoption yet, but considering the interest of many good people, we’re sure these dogs will be okay.
We hope that their next owners will provide them with much more love that they desperately need and deserve.
