Dogs are awesome. They embody every quality we humans should strive for. They are our most loyal companions, and I think I speak for all of us when I say that life would be incredibly dull without them.
The story that we will talk about today is an example of how such a friendship between a man and his dogs can improve one’s life drastically, and it is just one of the most wholesome stories you will ever read.
He Built What For The Dogs?!
Despite retiring over 15 years ago, Eugene Bostick has made it his new journey to help rescued dogs enjoy a life of adventure, and he did it in the most genius way possible.
The man stated that he didn’t plan on being a caretaker for all of the rescued dogs, but instead, considered it his duty to help them because the others would not.
Bostick told The Dodo: We live down on a dead-end street where me and my brother have a horse barn. People sometimes come by and dump dogs out here, leaving them to starve.
So, we started feeding them, letting them in, and taking them to the vet to get them spayed and neutered. We made a place for them to live.
Over the years, he rescued many stray dogs and helped get them to safety. Even though they were content on just running around his farm and enjoying the fresh air, Eugene had the great idea of building a dog train. How did he come up with that idea?
Bostick said: One day, I was out and I saw this guy with a tractor who attached these carts to pull rocks. I thought, ‘Dang, that would do for a dog train’.
I’m a pretty good welder, so I took these plastic barrels with holes cut in them, and put wheels under them and tied them together.
Dog Train Express!
And, so a great new adventure started. The old man takes the dogs once or twice a week for a joyride and some beautiful sightseeing, and the dogs just love it.
Bostick said that the dogs get excited anytime they hear him turning on the tractor, and they all just come running, ready for some funtime.
The dog train has become quite a popular attraction among the locals, and many have asked to take a few pictures.
When asked, he simply states that he enjoys helping dogs who have gone through so much and are now enjoying their time together.
He also stated: I’m getting up in age. I’m 80 now, so I suppose it can’t last too much longer, but I’ll keep it going as long as I can. The dogs have a great time. They just really enjoy it.
This is an absolutely beautiful story and reading about it is enough to make anyone shed happy tears. I wish Eugene and his dogs all the best on their adventures together.
