The Watchful Protectors
When a woman named Trisha noticed her dogs had been acting strange for a few days, she decided to investigate a little bit.
It started when her dog named Jackie started only spending time in one part of the yard and refusing to move from it.
The neighbor’s dog also did the same thing, and both dogs were watching over something that was there.
Trisha told The Dodo: We noticed them when Jackie was laying by the fence right by the hole. My hubby went and checked it out and then saw these adorable babies!
This whole time, the dogs had been watching over tiny, baby bunnies. She wanted to make sure that the dogs didn’t accidentally harm them, but realized quickly that was never going to happen.
She continued by saying: My other dog, George, didn’t care too much about them. I think he was confused at what they are… Jackie seemed to want to just babysit.
A Safe Future For The Bunnies
Now that the family knew why Jackie loved being in the yard so much, they realized that it was best to let the baby bunnies stay with them.
The family from Wisconsin set up a camera in the yard so they could monitor them and make sure that they were always safe.
One night, Trisha caught something interesting on camera. It was their mom. She would always stop by to take care of her babies.
This was amazing, as the little bunnies have so many protectors right from the beginning who will always watch over them as they grow up.
Trisha said: It has been a little over a week, and they are little bunnies hopping around with their mommy.
As time went on, the babies were growing up, and the dogs just loved being around them all the time.
This story is the perfect example of how a dog’s empathy extends beyond anything we would normally anticipate.
