There aren’t many things that can really upset or leave me depressed. However, after I see just how much some dogs struggle and what they do to survive, I just can’t comprehend it.
It’s really tragic and it’s a problem that needs to be addressed, so that no animal has to go through this much.
In this story, we will talk about a dog who was so seriously malnourished that he looked like a skeleton before he was found and rescued.
A Dog Struggling To Survive
When Felix was first brought into the shelter by his rescuers, it was clear from the start that he had been starved and abused for a long time.
He was so skinny that you could clearly see his bones, and it was just a really horrifying thing to see.
Felix managed to barely cling on to life and find help, thanks to some Good Samaritans who noticed him and called for help.
He was quickly transported to a shelter, and he had to see a vet immediately. While he was there, he received tick and flea treatment.
He also did blood tests, and the vets took an X-ray so they could figure out how to proceed in helping Felix.
Felix’s Newfound Spirit
They established that he was only three years old, which made it all the more difficult when you realize that he was pretty much suffering for so long.
Luckily, all of that was behind him now. There was no one who would mistreat him ever again, and his rescuers were committed to helping him recover and lead a normal life.
He enjoyed regular meals, which helped him regain a lot of weight in a very short span of time.
A vet checkup confirmed that he had managed to gain 11 pounds, which was huge progress for him.
Felix still had a long way to go, but he was getting stronger by the day, and he is a lot happier now that he can move freely and explore his surroundings with his new friends.
While we don’t have information about what happened to Felix after his recovery, I am hopeful that he is now living his life with a wonderful family who will give him lots of cuddles and treats.
If this story can show us anything, it is that it’s very important to react if you see a dog who shows signs of severe neglect and abuse. A simple phone call can save a life.
