There are only a handful of things that can leave me truly heartbroken, and one of them is seeing a starving, stray puppy who can’t do anything to help himself.
Many people have the opportunity to offer some food and water, or call for animal rescuers to help, but instead, they just walk past and do nothing.
It’s not often, but occasionally, a kind soul will give the puppy what it needs and call for help, so they can have some chance at life. We all need to be more like these people.
For this story, we will talk about a dog who was found in a narrow alleyway and was starving before his rescuers came along to help him.
The Sweetest Puppy
When the rescue organization, Stray Rescue of St. Louis, received a call about a small puppy barely surviving in a small alleway, they were on their way to help.
They quickly got in the car and went to the location where the dog was staying. It didn’t take them too long to find him.
Upon seeing him, they were shocked by how skinny he was. The poor puppy just got a start in life and was already suffering this much. Nobody deserves that.
When they got close to him, they noticed that he was really friendly and went to greet them all.
He paused for a moment and went back to his bowl to tell them that he was very hungry and just wanted something to eat.
His rescuer started petting him and the poor dog just started crying because he was so exhausted from everything.
Indy Is Finally Safe
It was just so depressing seeing this, as it puts in perspective just how much he suffered on his own.
They promised to take him to a safe place and give him a new chance. The rescuers wasted no time.
They got the puppy, now named Indy, in the car and took him straight to the St. Louis shelter. While there, he received a routine medical check and treatment for any issues he might have had.
At the shelter, they gave him food and water, and he was more than happy to finally eat a proper meal.
After that, it was time to find Indy a new family. While it was going to take time, they thought that sending him into a foster home would be a great idea.
While he was in foster care, Indy finally got to enjoy his life. He liked playing, running around the yard, exploring, and doing many more fun activities.
He was just the sweetest pup who wanted a chance to live and his wonderful rescuers helped him. That’s all it took. A simple phone call changed this sweet puppy’s life.
