It’s finally time to check out the finest Shiba Inu breeders in Florida!
The state of Florida has many things to offer. It’s a fantastic place to live and an even better place for a holiday.
But, it’s not that great a place to find a Shiba Inu puppy.
Most sources for this dog breed that I’ve encountered are of suspicious quality. And, I want only the best for you.
That’s why I’ve only got 5 top Shiba Inu breeders in Florida. It’s not many, but they’re all great people that are looking forward to helping their puppies find loving homes.
Shiba Inu Puppies For Sale In Florida
Shiba Inu puppies in Florida are quite common, unlike in other states. But, still, you gotta be careful with who you trust. That’s why I’ve come up with the ultimate list of breeders that you can absolutely rely on in this state. No Puppyspot or Petland included!
1. Hard Run Acres
Whenever I find a farm that breeds a specific dog breed, I always get so excited.
I mean, I love the fact that these puppies, no matter their breed, are blessed to spend their early days surrounded by nature. The Hard Run Acres farm is one of those great breeding environments.
Nestled between Tampa and Orlando, Hard Run Acres have been around for a while now. They’re focused on breeding not only Shiba Inus, but other dog breeds, like Boxers, Pugs, and Boston Terriers.
The Hard Run Acres puppies are all up to date with their vaccinations and are dewormed right before you take them to their new furever home. They come with a one year health guarantee that states that there are no hereditary diseases present in their pups.
I urge you to contact the breeder to see if they have any Shiba puppies available, or if you’ll have to be put on their waiting list. Either way, you won’t have to deal with too much paperwork and their adoption process is pretty straight forward.

Absolute Shibas are pet-quality dogs. They’re mainly bred to serve as companions. However, no one can stop them from being terrific at conformation competitions and dog shows too.
The proof for their competition abilities lies in the fact that many Absolute Shiba Inus have been crowned as champions of competitions like Canine Good Citizen, Barn Hunt, Rally, Trick Dog, etc.
Absolute Shibas is a member of the National Shiba Club Of America. Their pups are in excellent condition, and you’re gonna love how nicely bred and raised they all are.

3. Tired Iron Shibas
Ever since 2005, Tired Iron Shibas have been making people happier by helping them find their own Shiba Inu puppy.
Even though their name says they’re “tired”, the Tired Iron Shibas couldn’t be further from that. They’re still not tired of breeding premium little Shibas!
That’s why Tired Iron is one of the best Shiba Inu breeders in Florida!
These guys breed future family members and sweet cuddle buddies. Their Shibas come first, and everyone else is second. A Tired Iron Shiba is a puppy that has been socialized since birth. All the puppies are bred to breed standards and stay inside the house, just where they belong.
I respect this breeder because they’re completely home-based, and they’re not a professional kennel, where only the money counts.
Tired Iron Shibas are all pre-planned puppies that have health tests and kind souls, you’ll get to know for yourself when you dial up Iron’s phone number!

4. Coquina Shibas
Hidden away in North Florida, there’s a breeder with 20-year-long experience that will amaze you!
Welcome, Coquina Shibas!
Coquina’s breeding practice started with another dog breed, the American Pitbull Terrier. To be honest, the APBT is one of my favorite purebred dogs of all time. I was a bit surprised when I heard that the owner of Coquina switched to breeding and raising Shiba Inus.
Still, I can’t undermine how great Shibas are.
The first Shiba came to Coquina in 2015. It took them a lot of time to find the ideal Shiba Inu dog to start their practice.
Ever since, Coquina has made sure that all their Shiba puppies are of exceptional health and that they are all tested and approved by the American Kennel Club.
What truly amazed me with this breeder is the fact that they used to breed service dogs for people in need. Shibas, since they cling to only one person, are good as emotional support animals. So, every Shiba pup from Coquina will be the best companion pup possible!
Please, before you decide you want a Coquina Shiba Inu, make sure you fill in the detailed questionnaire about your living habits. You can find the form on their website.

5. Boomlay Shiba Inu
Who’d known that Alexis would go from showing Japanese chickens to showing Japanese dogs!
This young lady caught the show bug in 2010, and she’s a superstar of performance no matter which animal she’s presenting.
Today, Alexis takes care of Shiba Inus and lets them perform in many competitions, like agility, fast cat, fast hunt, Canine Good Citizen, etc. No matter what this young Shiba lover tries, she succeeds!
Boomlay Shibas aren’t only bred to become someone’s best friend. Alexis wants to make sure that people finally understand how complex purebred dogs are. She’s a great teacher and loves sharing her knowledge with the rest of the Shiba Inu lovers.
A Boomlay Shiba, because of their pedigree and strong work ethic, will cost more. They range from $3,200 to $3,500. You will also need to put down a mandatory $500 deposit.
Boomlay dogs are all tested before breeding, so they do not suffer from any generic conditions, i.e. hip dysplasia, luxating patella, or cataracts. OFA certificates support this claim.
Unfortunately, Alexis doesn’t have any litters planned so far this year, but she’s active on social media and will post an announcement if puppies are coming soon. I find this a good thing because you can really tell she breeds for improvement, not for profits.
Limited litters a year is always a good sign when you’re choosing a breeder.

FAQs
What Is The Average Cost Of A Shiba Inu Puppy In Florida?
Since this dog breed is from Japan, we can consider it an exotic member of the canine kingdom. Even though Shibas have become quite popular all over the world, they’re still pretty expensive doggos.
You won’t find a top-quality Shiba Inu puppy for a low price. If you do, rest assured that something’s wrong with that dog.
Shiba Inus are dogs with a rich history and pedigree. Their appearance is unusual, and their temperament is even more special. This makes them expensive dogs and therefore, they sell for $1,500 to $2,500. That’s only for Shiba Inu puppies with limited AKC paperwork.
Pups with full AKC registration papers will usually cost around $3,000.
The State of Florida isn’t that expensive to live in, if we exclude Miami. Places like Jacksonville, Tampa, or Orlando offer pretty affordable living conditions. You will definitely be able to find a Shiba puppy for a reasonable price in some of the smaller Florida cities.
Is A Shiba Inu A Good House Dog?
Yes, the Shiba Inu is one of those dog breeds that can easily live inside, no matter if it’s a house or an apartment. Still, every living situation should be supplemented with outdoor time too. Your Shiba can live pretty much anywhere, as long as you provide a healthy dose of daily exercises.
Shibas are highly active dogs. They need to stay fit, and hate to feel bored. You can fulfill their day by putting them in a fenced backyard with obstacles, balls, and fun games. They will love it!
If you’re stuck in a city apartment, and have a busy schedule with no chance of playing with your Shiba or taking them to the park, then you should consider another dog breed.
Not providing them with enough exercise will lead to boredom and unwanted Shiba behavior, like aggression. That’s certainly not what you want with this dog breed.
What Is The Lifespan Of A Shiba Inu?
Shiba Inu dogs are blessed with a long lifespan. When I first started researching this Japanese dog breed, I immediately thought: If they had a long life expectancy like most Japanese people, these dogs would be truly awesome.
And, my guess was right. Shiba Inu dogs can live long lives, from 12 to 15 years on average. They seem to be fairly healthy in general and have no major health issues associated with them. Of course, all dogs are prone to some conditions, and our Shiba Inu is no exception.
You can expect conditions like hip dysplasia, hypothyroidism, or patellar luxation to sometimes manifest in this breed. Buying a Shiba puppy from a reputable breeder, and taking care of its health, will bring you one step close to that 15-year-long lifespan.
Is A Shiba Inu A Good Dog For First-Time Pet Owners?
So many wonderful dog breeds, and you really want a Shiba as your first dog?
Think again!
Shiba Inus are truly remarkable dogs. They are special creatures, but they’re not easy to handle.
Shibas shouldn’t be anyone’s choice of first-time pet. They’re pretty stubborn and need a firm hand to control them. If you’re an inexperienced dog owner, you won’t have much fun with a dog like this, as he will play you like no one has before.
Once a Shiba realizes he’s in charge, he will use this and dominate over his owner.
Also, they seem to be pretty aloof with unknown people, even other family members. Even though they get attached easily to their owners, Shibas still need to be handled gently. If you believe you can’t handle their temperament or energy, then don’t get this dog breed.
What Are The Best Things About Having A Shiba Inu?
So, you want to hear the good sides of the Shiba Inu breed?
No problem, these dogs do have a lot of positive aspects! I do have to warn you though, that this dog breed is pretty special and you must be ready for their quirks. Having a Shiba Inu is fun, but here’s exactly why they’re so special!
Shiba’s Intelligence
The first thing you will figure out from hanging out with a Shiba Inu is their intelligence. These dogs are truly smart cookies, but their intelligence won’t be visible to everyone. Shibas are terribly stubborn, and they won’t listen to you if they don’t feel like it.
In fact, these pups are so headstrong, you may even wonder if they’re acting stupid on purpose, or really are limited.
But, Shiba Inu experts do really claim that these dogs are intelligent. I mean, it does take immense intelligence to act stupidish on purpose.
Appearance
Their exotic look is what makes the Shiba Inu breed so special. Almost everyone at the dog park will stop for a moment to admire their signature dense orange coat and fox-like face. But, they also come in other colors, from cream to black Shibas!
Shibas are sneaky foxes of the canine world. Their pointy ears, glitzing tiny eyes, and curly tail will help you to recognize a Shiba in a crowd.
They’re truly lovely and have a generally sturdy body, even though they’re not classified as large breed dogs with immense strength.
Activity Level
Even though you may be a couch potato and undertake limited activity, you’ll find that a Shiba’s energy is contagious. These are dogs with high energy levels and they will go beyond their boundaries to drain that stored energy.
I find their activity to be a plus, or rather a lovely bonus. It means that they will stay in shape, fit, and be less prone to weight-related health issues.
What Are The Downsides Of Owning A Shiba Inu?
As you may already know, the Shiba Inu is not the breed for everyone. These dogs come with many downsides. Only a person who’s madly in love with this dog breed can accept most of them, if not all.
Before you adopt your new puppy, you should be aware of the following traits.
Strong Prey Drive
Shi ba Inus were originally bred to hunt small prey animals. It’s in their blood to chase down squirrels, birds, cats, and other tiny creatures.
Even if you socialize and train your Shiba Inu, the strong hunting instinct will still survive.
Excessive Shedding
Man, their gorgeous double coats will truly steal away your breath. But, all that beauty comes with a heavy price. Shiba Inus shed like crazy. And, sadly, they shed all year round, with excessive seasonal shedding in spring and fall.
If you want this dog, you will need to be prepared for grooming. Lots and lots of grooming!
Short Attention Span
Besides being stubborn, Shiba Inus have a really short attention span. You can talk as much as you want. You can even wave at them with their favorite snacks. But, if a Shiba wants to check out something more interesting in the bushes, he will do so.
There’s nothing in the world that can stop their curiosity and strong will.
Aloofness
Whenever I talk about dog behavior, I must always emphasize that every dog, no matter their breed, must be socialized properly. Socialization is something that’s tough to learn on a puppy’s way to adulthood. You’re basically teaching your dog how to react in different situations, with new people.
If not socialized properly, Shiba Inus can show aggression to small animals and even new people around them. They will not show their trust easily to newcomers.
Instead, they might even bite or chase away these people.
Destructiveness
As one of those dogs that are prone to developing separation anxiety, Shibas shouldn’t be left alone for too long.
Being alone will make them bored, and being bored will lead to destructive behavior.
So, next time you leave the house for too long without your Shiba, you better make sure he’s got something fun to do, or you’ll end up buying a new couch or replanting those poor backyard plants!
To Sum Up…
When I first started researching Shiba Inu breeders in Florida, I was stunned by the fact that there are so many puppy mills and pet shops in this State. It seems like no one has a clue how wrong these businesses are!
Personally, I’m always against such breeders. I prefer people who breed to improve the breed, not to improve the amount showing on their bank statement. That’s why I’ve gathered the top five Shiba Inu breeders in Florida, right here, in one place.
I hope you’ll like at least one of the listed breeders and find your new Shiba puppy!
