2. Heart Of America Whoodles – Missouri

Let us present you with Heart of America Whoodles – voted the #1 Whoodle breeder in the USA twice in a row.

Who Are They

Heart of America Whoodles (HOAW) is a wonderful breeding program located in the midwest, just a little bit outside of St. Louis, in the state of Missouri.

They are ethical and dedicated Whoodle breeders that have a mission of giving back to the war veterans of the U.S. Their team is made of a couple of respected and reputable midwest breeders who all have one goal in mind.

Their main purpose is to breed puppies that can be donated as working dogs (therapy and service dogs), but they also have some dogs that can be adopted as pets. Why veterans, you might ask?

Well, as they have experienced the loss of a husband and father themselves, who was on active duty in the Marine Corps, they struggled a lot to fight their grief, anxiety, and depression.

The only thing that brought them a little bit of joy was sweet, little Whoodles, and they came up with the idea of helping others just like their puppies have helped them.

With “saving our veterans one Whoodle at a time” as their #1 goal in mind, they started this commendable project, and they continue to help people all around the USA.

Breeding Program

They strive to produce well-rounded and superb Whoodle puppies, with amazing health and temperament characteristics that will be perfect for your next family pet.

At Hearts of America Whoodles, they work closely with licensed veterinarians in order to choose only high-quality, healthy Wheaten Terriers and Poodle parents that are going to be used in crossbreeding.

In 2020, they started having mini Whoodles as well, and since they are not exactly good service dogs, they decided to donate a portion of their proceeds to training other dogs to be therapy dogs in schools for children that deal with a lot of problems.

What They Offer

They have a couple of planned litters for this year, so if you are interested in purchasing a puppy for yourself, you have to first apply through their Whoodle application.

In case you want to make any kind of donation, please message them privately or email them at [email protected].

Before applying, they advise you to read their terms and conditions thoughtfully.

They care deeply about their puppies, which is why they take the placing process very seriously. The responses on the application will help them choose the puppy that will match your personality and lifestyle perfectly.

You can find all pictures and important information about their dogs and puppies on their website. In case you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to call or email them anytime – they are always available to help.

3. Texas Whoodles – Texas

close shot of Whoodle

Texas Whoodles is the next breeding program on our list, and it is located in the heart of Texas State, just a little bit north of Austin.

Who Are They

Before they had their first litter of Whoodles in 2016, they had a lot of experience in owning Miniature Poodles; however, they wanted a new, medium-sized dog to join their little family.

They wanted a non-shedding breed just like Poodles, and when they saw Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers at an AKC show, they immediately fell in love.

After a couple of years of owning Wheaten Terriers, they came up with the idea of crossbreeding these two beautiful breeds, and that is how they ended up with Whoodle puppies.

Breeding Program

Their breeding program is dedicated to breeding, first of all, healthy Whoodle puppies. They make sure that all of them are well-balanced and with a good temperament.

They don’t breed for quantity or profit, but to produce high-quality puppies that will make their new owner very happy. All of their puppies are being raised in their home in Austin as a part of their family – not in kennels.

They are well-socialized and trained by using Jane Killion’s Puppy Culture program, and before they go to their new home, they also start with potty training, crate training, and clicker training.

What They Offer

Usually, they have only one to two litters per year, and if you want to purchase a puppy with a spay/neuter contract, you’ll have to pay $3,000. They also require a non-refundable $500 deposit to reserve a puppy, which will then be deducted from the final price.

Your Texas Whoodle puppy will come with:

• Veterinary records

• A starter bag of puppy food

• A clicker

• A 12-month health guarantee

• A puppy toy

• Free 30-day Trupanion pet insurance

You will be able to choose your puppy when it is seven weeks old, and bring it home at eight weeks old. If you need additional information, don’t hesitate to contact them.

Currently, they are expecting a litter in the Fall of 2022, and they will be accepting applications once the litter is born, so keep an eye open for this.

4. S’Wheaten Your Life Wheatens & Whoodles – Connecticut

Whoodle lying on his bed

Our next breeder not only has a cute name, but also very cute Whoodle puppies that will steal your heart immediately.

Who Are They

S’Wheaten Your Life is one of the experienced and responsible in-home breeding programs from Connecticut that has been breeding puppies for more than 14 years – to be exact, since 2007.

The person who is behind all this is Holly Deffley, the owner and breeder of S’Wheaten Your Life Wheatens & Whoodles, which is, at the same time, (as she likes to call herself) a stay-at-home puppy mom, groomer, and trainer.

She has always been an animal lover because she grew up in a household full of dogs, cats, and other animals, but one summer day, she fell in love with the Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier breed, and the rest is history.

Soon, they will expand and breed Bernedoodles and Goldendoodles, which, if you are interested, you can find on their sister website: Sterling Brook Doodles.

Breeding Program

For them, breeding is not just their career, but also a lifetime passion. They consider all their puppies as part of their family, and that is exactly how they are being raised.

Up until they are old enough to go to their new home, they live in their house where they get all the love and care possible.

Holly, being a stay-at-home puppy mom, gets to monitor the puppies and their growth all the time. Being raised in the home environment of their family farm where they have complete freedom to run around and explore means that they are socialized from the moment they come into this world.

The goal of their breeding program is to try to adhere and eventually improve the Whoodle breed standard when it comes to health, temperament, and stature.

What They Offer

If you are interested in purchasing one of their puppies, you must be wondering about the pricing. In order to reserve a puppy and get on their waiting list, you’ll have to pay a $500 non-refundable deposit first.

If you get approved and one of the puppies becomes yours, you will have to pay $3,000 for both a Mini Whoodle (20 to 35 pounds), and a Standard Whoodle (40 to 60 pounds). The price includes:

• A health guarantee

• A puppy folder with paperwork and all important information

• Up-to-date vaccinations and dewormings

• Microchipping

• A puppy toy with the mother’s and littermates’ scent

• Sample puppy food and vitamins

Who Are They

Wonderlands Whoodles is a lovely breeding program that is run by Lyric Rose, who is not only the owner, but also the breeder, trainer, mother, and dog mom.

She has always been one of the biggest dog lovers, which is confirmed by the fact that at the age of 13, she became a dog trainer, and at 15, she even opened her own training center called STONEHAVEN K9.

Prompted by the great success of her training program, she also started breeding these beautiful pups. Her love and passion for dogs only encourage her to continue working even better, and trying to improve her breeding program as well as the breed standard.

Breeding Program

As of 2022, they have been focusing only on F1 mini Whoodles, along with medium and standard Sheepadoodles.

They strive to produce friendly and very social dogs that get along well with other dogs, people, and children. Puppies get the opportunity to visit a lot of public locations, so they can get used to them and develop a positive and well-behaved temperament.

The focus of their breeding program is to breed puppies suited for various sports and work titles such as gun dogs, service dogs, therapy dogs, and simple companion dogs. Regarding the colors, you can mostly find merle, brindle, and phantom puppies.

These puppies are being raised with the badass breeder protocol + the Puppy Culture program, which focuses on building temperament, trainability, working drive, and human interaction.

All of their puppies have the opportunity to run around freely, play, and engage with a lot of other dogs on a daily basis, which ensures that they grow up to be well-rounded, friendly, and very happy dogs.

What They Offer

They offer dogs that have been fully health tested to the highest OFA standards, and DNA tested for various genetic diseases such as hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, and eye and cardiac diseases.

They take the adoption of puppies very seriously, which is why they are very picky about who gets to take one of their adorable pups home.

When the puppies are eight weeks old, they can go to their forever home. For black and sable Mini Whoodle puppies, you will have to pay $3,000. For brindle ones, $3,200, and for merle puppies, $3,500.

8. Feathers And Fleece Farm Whoodles – Indiana

Whoodle sitting outside

Photo from: @d00dled0gs

Last on our list of best Whoodle breeders, we have Feathers and Fleece Farm, located in Indiana, and they have been breeding wonderful Doodles since 1993.

Who Are They

Originally, Feathers and Fleece Farm started as an herb farm, known as Mingiones Gardens, and they sold herbal products while also breeding rare-breed poultry, and working dogs. In 2007, they sold the herb portion of the farm and decided to focus only on breeding dogs.

In just a couple of years, the farm grew from just one person to 11 employees and a lot of new buildings, which just mirrors their wonderful success.

Inside their beautiful complex, they have a veterinarian facility, an emergency care clinic, and a grooming and training facility. They also have a lot of free space for dogs to run around and play.

Breeding Program

At Feathers and Fleece, they made it their mission to provide people with the most socialized puppies ever. They are specialized in breeding healthy, hypoallergenic dogs that are stunning, and that will make everyone fall in love with them.

Just a couple of days after puppies are born, they are brought to an early imprinting program, which guarantees that all of them will be calm, well-adjusted, and trainable.

In order to ensure that all pups are perfectly healthy, their breeding stock is fully registered and health tested. As opposed to many other breeding programs where you get to pick up your puppy at eight weeks old, at Feathers and Fleece, you can do that when they are 10 to 12 weeks of age.

They do this because they want to make sure that the puppies are fully vaccinated, weaned off, and most importantly, ready to take on the next step in their little life.

What They Offer

If you are looking to purchase a Feathers and Fleece Whoodle puppy, you’ll have to pay around $2,400 for either a standard Whoodle (21 inches, 45 to 55 pounds), or a mini Whoodle (18 inches, 35 to 40 pounds).

When purchasing from Feathers and Fleece Farm, both you (as the client) and the breeder have to sign a health contract.

This contract guarantees you that the puppies have all of their registration papers, have been checked by a licensed veterinarian, and have received all their necessary vaccinations and dewormings.

Additionally, the breeder has to provide all medical records, and guarantee that the puppies do not suffer from any congenital or other defects. In case this happens, you have the right to ask for a new puppy.

Contrary to this, the buyer has to continue providing the puppy with appropriate medical care, vaccinations, parasite treatment, and a healthy diet. Puppies have to be spayed or neutered before they are 12 months of age, and they cannot be purchased for resale – only as loved companions.

As the buyer, you have to agree to never chain the puppy, but care for him deeply, and provide him with a professional examination within the first 48 hours of bringing him home.

If you have any further questions, go to the ‘Contact Us’ page on their website and you can message the breeder directly. Additionally, you can either email them or make a phone call.

FAQs

What Is A Whoodle?

A lot of people have never even heard of this breed of dog, so we are going to get it straight now. A Whoodle is not a purebred dog, but a mix of two other breeds — a cross between the Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier and Poodle dog breeds.

Whoodle is just one of the official names by which you can find them. They also go by the names Sweatendoodle, Wheatendoodle, Wheatenpoo, and Sweatenpoo.

It is said that they originated in the mid-1900s, but unfortunately, there is no information on where and who actually came up with the idea to cross these two beautiful breeds.

Most likely, the breeders wanted to combine the amazing intelligence of the Poodle parent and the luscious coat of the Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier. The result of that is what we know today as the Whoodle — an extremely smart, enthusiastic, and absolutely adorable mixed puppy.

What Is The Average Size Of A Whoodle?

Depending on which parent breeds are used in the breeding process, Whoodles can range from small-sized dogs to medium-sized dogs.

This is because Poodles can come in various sizes, and if, for example, a toy or a miniature Poodle is used for crossing, the Whoodle is going to be a lot smaller than when the standard Poodle is used.

On average, when fully grown, standard Whoodles can weigh up to 60 pounds, and be around 20 inches tall. However, most of them fit into the range of 20 to 45 pounds, and 12 to 20 inches.

That being said, puppies can always grow to be smaller or larger because you can never be 100% sure with mixed dog breeds. If you want to know more about mixed breed puppies and their sizes, check out our article on “How to tell how big a mixed puppy will get?”

Do Whoodles Make Good Pets?

Whoodles are generally really good family pets that make awesome family members. They will get along very well with children because they are generally playful, friendly, and social dogs, given that they are properly socialized from an early age.

Proper socialization will ensure that they behave well around small children, other people, and strangers.

However, it is also always important to educate your kids on how to behave around dogs because sometimes they can be too insensitive and cause your dog to react negatively.

Whoodles will get along well with other animals that you may have such as cats, rabbits, hamsters, etc., but you have to be careful during the first weeks or months of bringing your new puppy home. Take it easy and introduce them slowly, step by step.

What makes a Whoodle a very desired pet is the fact that they are considered to be a hypoallergenic and non-shedding breed, which is perfect for people with allergies or for those who don’t want to deal with a lot of hair around the house.

Are Whoodles Cuddly?

Most future dog owners are looking for dog breeds that will be affectionate and cuddly because let’s face it… who doesn’t want to have a little furry friend that you can cuddle up with on the sofa and enjoy a sweet time together?

Well, if you are looking for this kind of dog, you’re lucky because Whoodles are known to be very sweet, warm, and kind animals that are very affectionate towards nearly everyone.

With this wonderful mix, you can look forward to many cuddle sessions during the day, and an extremely calm temperament that you will adore.

Conclusion

Whoodles have it all — an adorable appearance, a sweet and lovely temperament, a playful but also gentle nature, and a great relationship with people and children. One might say they are perfect family pets, and we will have to agree.

If you are looking for a new furry friend, then this is definitely one of the dog breeds you have to check out. Not only are they great companion dogs, but due to their intelligent and calm nature, they are also amazing service dogs, therapy dogs, and emotional support animals.

When looking for the perfect breeder, you have to pay attention to a lot of things. Make sure to do extensive research, and look for people who practice health screenings and testing to ensure the best possible quality of their dogs.

Let this list of the eight best Whoodle breeders from across the States be your guiding point in finding your perfect Whoodle puppy. Once again, don’t forget to do the research, and best of luck!
