Tortoise Penzie and cheetah Tuesday are winning the hearts of visitors at a Florida wildlife park, with their adorable friendship shared widely on social media. This unlikely bond between the world’s fastest land mammal and the slowest reptile is captivating visitors at the Carson Springs Wildlife Conservation Center. Guests from all over come to see the inseparable duo, who spend their days napping and eating side by side.
Christine Janks, the park guide, explains, “She steals his food.” Tuesday, who has developed a love for avocados and tortoise food, shares meals with Penzie.
So, how did a cheetah and a tortoise become best friends? Tuesday was born at the center in 2018, on a Wednesday—hence the name, “Tuesday.” Penzie, about 20 years old, has been a resident at the center for years.
Despite Tuesday’s powerful build and hunting abilities, the two have been together since they were young, and Janks assures that Penzie’s safety is not a concern.
