When you truly love your dog, you love them in sickness and in health, and you can’t imagine parting ways with them.
I feel heartbroken every time I realize that countless dog owners deny their dogs the love and care that they deserve.
Sky, a senior shelter pup, gave her best years to her family, but they betrayed her and left her when she needed their affection and care the most.
The dog’s owners brought her to the vet and decided that they no longer wanted her in their lives. They walked away and left Sky feeling confused.
The lovely dog suddenly lost the only home she ever knew.
Shelter Life
Sky was admitted to the Good Dog-Dog Talk Animal Rescue, located in Brea, California.
The moment the shelter staff met the ten-year-old dog for the first time, they felt brokenhearted to see the condition she was in.
The pooch, who was blind in one eye, was extremely malnourished, weighing in at around thirty pounds.
Given how neglected she was, the staff suspected that Sky’s owners kept her in a backyard and used her for breeding.
“With her allergies, overgrown nails, and [being] extremely skinny, it’s clear she spent her days neglected in a backyard. Most likely used for breeding and then tossed aside, Sky deserves so much more,” a spokesperson for the Good Dog-Dog Talk Animal Rescue told Newsweek.
When Sky arrived at the shelter, she felt timid and a bit nervous.
The staff comforted her and fed her. Despite being shy, the hungry pup quickly munched the food they gave her.
After giving her a soothing bath, Sky’s caregivers took her outside. They sat with her in the yard, giving her time to relax.
Realizing that she could trust the staff, Sky approached them and rested her on their lap. She sensed that she was safe.
Hoping To Discover Unconditional Love
The senior dog adjusted well to life in the shelter.
Whenever the canine sees the shelter volunteers approaching her kennel and taking her outside for a walk, she starts wagging her tail with excitement.
She loves cuddling with them, and she just wants to absorb their affection.
A volunteer at the Brea shelter posted Sky’s story on her TikTok account, hoping that it would help the adorable pup find her happily ever after.
“She’s the sweetest, most gentle soul, just waiting for her golden years to be filled with love and comfort,” the giant-hearted volunteer wrote under the video.
Sky deserves to find humans who would give the love and care she never had in her previous home.
She has a lot of love to give and she can’t wait to curl up in her new parents’ arms and feel their unconditional love.
