Tracy, a pet owner from Western Washington, is used to having unexpected visitors pop by her home.
Owning two cats and one dog named Nelson, she is rarely surprised. However, one morning, something left her shocked to the core.
At 5:30 a.m., Nelson woke her up to go potty, and when he returned, asking his mom to let him back in the house, Tracy noticed that he wasn’t alone…
Unexpected Visitor
Nelson cheerfully wagged his tail on the porch as if it were no big deal – after all, it was only 5:30 in the morning!
He waited for Tracy to open the door, unaware that his unexpected buddy whom he brought along would completely freak his mom out!
As Tracy let Nelson inside, she heard some noise on the porch and turned to see two glowing eyes peeking at her. Completely shocked and unprepared for one more guest at that hour, she froze.
Then, she realized – it was Dozer, their neighbor’s dog!

“Nelson woke me up at 5:30am to go potty and guess who followed him home,” Tracy wrote in the video.
Dozer is a long-time visitor who occasionally rings her doorbell, asking to be let inside. The two go way back, and having him around is not a strange thing, but this time, he managed to surprise his hooman buddy.
“He scares me a lot and I love him so much. Dozer got his treat, a cuddle and we went back to bed,” she added.
You Never Know When It’s ‘Dozer Time’
Everything began three years ago when Dozer paid Tracy his very first visit. She was in her garage doing some chores when he appeared in front of her, wagging his tail in a friendly manner.
Tracy gave him a nice treat and a cuddle, and then Dozer went his way.
The rest, as they say, is history!
Ever since that moment, he regularly visits Tracy and her family, but hangs around for much more than just a treat.
Dozer has adjusted to the entire family, including Nelson and the cats. He normally walks inside the house after Tracy lets him in, gets a treat, a cuddle, and then takes a long nap in a room of his own choosing.
Sometimes, he even stays the night and hangs out with the entire family. However, every time after that, Dozer requests them to let him out and then walks away to his original family.
According to Tracy, he walks about half a mile to get to her home, and his owners are fully aware of it. Even though they don’t communicate much, Dozer’s hoomans are perfectly fine with him having a “second family,” especially knowing how loved he is there.
“He comes from about half a mile through farms and trees,” Tracy says in another video.
Today, it is safe to say that Dozer is an integral member of his Washington family. He already has owners who love him so much, but he likes to think that Tracy has room in her heart for him, too. And, to say that she has is an understatement!
He even has his own TikTok account where Tracy keeps posting his daily visits.
Tracy and the family love Dozer, and they hope his little “in between homes” adventure doesn’t overwhelm him.
“I do believe that Dozer is unique and he’s happy living between homes,” Tracy adds.
