Adorable Pup Who Was Hiding In A Pile Of Trash Had The Biggest Smile When She Was Rescued

Unfortunately, it seems as though we keep failing our furry friends time and time again.

There are so many stray animals roaming around the streets, and instead of offering them a helping hand, many hoomans tend to treat them with cruelty.

That is why I am so thankful when I see those kind animal rescuers who dedicate their lives to providing these babies with the love and happiness they deserve. One such hoomans is Donna Lochmann.

No Pup Left Behind

As the chief life-saving officer with Stray Rescue of St. Louis (SRSL), Lochmann has countless rescues under her belt. And still, whenever she receives information about a pup in need of her help, she takes up the mission in the blink of an eye.

So, when she found out that there was a little pup hiding in an abandoned home, she grabbed all of her gear and headed down to the location.

When she arrived, she noticed that the home was in absolute shambles.

But, peeking through the rubble was a little adorable face trying to understand what was going on.

As soon as Lochmann spotted her, she began speaking to her in a calm and sweet voice, explaining that she was only there to help.

Even though the pup was super cautious, she still allowed the rescuer to approach her. It was as if she knew that Lochmann could be trusted.

Because she didn’t want to scare the pup further, Lochmann gave her some yummy food. This would not only fill her hungry belly but also show the pup that these humans were full of love and adoration.

As she was eating her food, Lochmann was able to slip a leash around her head.

Unfortunately, the leash scared the pup for a moment, as she didn’t know what it was used for. But, after she heard Lochmann’s calm voice, she knew it was okay.

When the two finally made it outside, the pup immediately felt better. She even allowed the rescuer to give her some sweet pets!

After lying in the grassy fields for a couple of moments to decompress, Lochmann was able to take this sweet girl to her car. In it, the pup completely transformed. She was no longer that cautious pup – she was now wagging her tail and smiling at the hooman!

A Better World

The pup, now named Kukala, was taken to the St. Louis shelter, where she received the love and care she deserved all along.

“You’re coming with us. You will never be alone again. Just take this leap of faith with us. It’s ok if you have to crawl. We’re so proud of you. We can’t wait to show you toys, treats, puppy friends, and all the love you’ve been missing. You’re so worthy, little one,” the shelter wrote.

I get so emotional every time I see a pup who is completely transformed after a rescue.

This is proof that all our furry friends need is a little bit of patience and adoration – and perhaps a little belly starch here and there!
