Hoop’s life journey is nothing but a true inspiration.
During the first several weeks of his life, he struggled and fought hard to survive. After losing six siblings at birth, he was the only one with a standing chance, and, despite all odds, he took it!
Hoop spent nights and days having difficulties breathing, eating, and even moving. Yet, today, he’s a happy pup that serves as a real testament to resilience and willpower.
This is his story!
Hoop Had Odds Stacked Against Him
When Ola, of Pawsitive Beginnings LA, California, first saw Hoop at the shelter, she knew that she had to help. This little boy seemed so down and barely clung to life. He could hardly make any movements, which was a signal to Ola to take him to the vet as soon as possible.
“When I picked him up from the shelter, I was literally like, I have to run to the vet right now. He was just this tiny little two-week-old potato that could hardly move,” Ola told Cuddle Buddies.
Upon his first checkup, Hoop was diagnosed with a severe case of pneumonia. Due to his condition, his mom, who gave birth way too early, had trouble nursing him. Consequently, Hoop ended up being in really bad shape and in urgent need of human assistance.
“The sound that he was making when he started coughing was horrendous. I’ve never heard anything like it,” says Ola.
The vet couldn’t guarantee that Hoop would make it, but his new foster momma never lost hope. He received constant, 24/7 care at the clinic, including oxygen and meds.
His every new day of being alive was a big success and a miracle, as Hoop was not given any chance at life. Then, a few weeks into the treatment, he started to prove everyone wrong!
This Little Fighter Has Made It
Hoop really loved life, and he made sure everyone understood it.
Even during the worst of times, this little fighter never gave up. Despite his bad cough and weakness, he always pushed through and found ways to engage in brief cuddle sessions with his caregivers.
When he finally emerged from intensive care, he started playing with Ola’s three other dogs, who were much bigger than he was.
He never considered pessimism an option. Ultimately, Hoop beat pneumonia with zero symptoms remaining.
“I’m finally comfortable enough to say HOOP HAS MADE IT. This little fighter has kept me on my toes, but I finally feel like he’s out of the woods…He’s almost done with his meds and has zero symptoms left. I’m so happy I could cry,” Ola wrote on Instagram.
Just seeing this brave boi take on life the way he was always supposed to was truly rewarding. After all those sleepless nights and difficult moments, he finally made it, and now he’s happier than ever!
Thanks to Ola who gave everything to help Hoop get better, this pup has a chance for a new life. Even though she would love nothing more than to adopt him, having three dogs already makes it really difficult for her to make room for Hoop, too.
That’s why Hoop is in search of a forever family – the one who’ll love him and accept him the way Ola did.
Until then, he’ll enjoy his foster home in Los Angeles and have many more exciting adventures with his siblings.
Good luck, Hoop! You’re a true inspiration!
