When a pup finds itself a loving home, it sometimes takes time for them to get used to their new environment.
But as soon as they do, that becomes their new favorite place.
Not only does it provide a sense of security and comfort, but it also contains their most prized possession – their hooman.
When Bear Bear was pulled from the SPCA of Texas and adopted into a loving forever home, he was the happiest boy around. Unfortunately, after the sudden passing of his owner, he found himself back at square one with no plan for his future.
What Now?
Bear Bear’s owner was found passed out in their car with the pup inside. Tragically, the owner passed away shortly after being admitted to the hospital, which meant that Bear Bear had to be returned to the shelter.
The Texan shelter welcomed him back with open arms, making sure to shower him with extra love and affection due to the traumatic experience he went through.
When Dezorey Arocha, the nurse who cared for Bear Bear’s owner at the hospital, heard from a detective that Bear Bear had been returned to the shelter with no family members to claim him, she knew she had to take matters into her own hands.
“I didn’t know his name. I didn’t know if he was a male or a female. I had no idea. All I could think of was how sad he must feel,” Arocha told the People.
Arocha, along with another nurse, began scouring local animal shelters, determined to find Bear Bear.
For eleven days, these nurses were restless. The fact that they didn’t have a single piece of information about this pup made this whole thing so much harder.
But then, all of a sudden, Arocha found out that the dog’s name was actually Bear Bear, allowing her to locate the pup on the SPCA of Texas’ website.
New Life
When they found him, the authorities scanned his microchip and discovered that he originally belonged to the SPCA of Texas. Considering this, they decided it would be best to return him to their care.
“And we have a policy that no matter how crowded we are, if they’re alumni, we take them back. And that’s how Bear Bear came back to us for the second time,” said Chris Luna, the CEO and President of the SPCA of Texas.
As soon as Arocha saw Bear Bear on their website, she swiftly emailed them to explain the situation and express her desire to meet the pup.
Finally seeing each other face to face sparked an incredible love between the two.
“In the greeting room, he was sweet as pie. He was a very loving, gentle, yet excited, and very much a puppy. He’s very cute, very playful,” the nurse remembers.
It was clear to everyone that Bear Bear was walking out of the shelter that day as an adopted pup!
“It just felt right. I don’t know why I was so drawn to him,” she adds.
Worthy Of Love
Finally, Bear Bear is able to decompress and relax in his new home, where he receives all the love and attention he deserves.
Even though I am sure that he will forever carry his previous owner in his heart, having Arocha around brought a smile to his face.
What an incredible story!
