In the many stories I have read about disabled dogs, I always feel great sadness in seeing how they are treated by a lot of owners.
Because they can’t live a normal life, they are often either abused or neglected, which leads to them completely distrusting humans.
Such was the case for this adorable deaf pittie, who was abandoned by its owner near a random utility pole in Atlanta.
She had almost completely given up, but she didn’t know her life was going to change for the better.
She Lost All Hope
Just as she was passing by, a kind woman noticed Wally lying on the ground and just sleeping. At first, she thought he was depressed because it looked like he was abandoned.
She asked her partner if they could go back and see if he was doing okay. The woman then slowly approached the puppy.
She felt immense fear as she suspected Wally might not be alive. However, she saw that he was breathing, so that was good news.
So, she started tapping on the ground and woke him up. This was when she realized that this sweet pittie was likely completely deaf.
He looked a bit confused but happy to see someone. His tail started wagging, and he hoped that these people were there to help him.
His new rescuer noticed that he was really malnourished and likely hadn’t eaten in a while. He had a collar, but there was no useful information on it.
The woman decided to pet him just to see if he would relax completely in her presence. When that happened, she slowly took him in her car.
When he noticed just how comfortable his ride was, he took full advantage of it and stretched out on the seat.
His new rescuer was glad because he felt safe. This was going to be the start of a beautiful friendship between them.
New Hope For Wally
After he was taken into her home, she gave Wally a shower and lots of good food so he could slowly regain his weight.
It was a huge surprise for her that this pittie got used to being in his new house so quickly. He was always seeking cuddles and playtime. You could just tell he lived a life like this before.
His rescuers realized that they still had to take him to a vet in Atlanta and check to see if he had a previous owner.
They trimmed his nails and gave him medicine for fleas and ticks. After that, the vets checked to see if he had a microchip.
When the results came back, and the vets told them that Wally didn’t have a microchip, they posted his story online to see if anyone would come forward.
Nobody responded, but something interesting happened shortly after the story was posted. A woman contacted the rescuers and said she wanted to adopt Wally.
This was incredible news for him. He was going to finally be with someone who will give him the love and care he deserves.
When everything was finalized, Wally was living his best life, thanks to his amazing rescuers and his new mom.
Despite the fact that he went through so much in his life, he is so happy that he got a new chance to be with someone special.
