The war between cats and dogs is an epic one. But, what would you do if I told you that there was actually no war?
Cats and dogs don’t hate each other like we hoomans tend to think. They can actually form beautiful and lasting friendships.
There are hundreds of cat and dog pairs that couldn’t go a single day without each other, debunking that silly little myth that cats and dogs are sworn enemies.
One such pair is the main character of today’s story!
Pawdorable Discovery
While playing in his backyard, a Golden Retriever named Tristan spotted something unusual hiding in the grass. After doing some sniffing around, Tristan realized that it was actually a little black kitten!
“Tristan has a habit of finding orphaned animals. I don’t know how he does it; he has a radar for it,” Aly Conyers, Tristan’s mom, tells People.
She also stated that a couple of days ago, her golden boy had also found a little baby deer on her Tennessee property.
As soon as he noticed the small kitten, he ran back into his home and did everything he could think of to get his mom’s attention. After picking up on his whining and barking, Conyers followed him back to the sweet baby.
“He was just going wild,” Conyers recalled.
Knowing that the kitten was just a newborn who needed his mom, Conyers decided to wait a bit, hoping that the mama cat would come back for her adorable child. Unfortunately, after not showing up for hours, Conyers decided to care for him herself.
Little did she know, she would have some help!
Two Special Friends
Since the kitten is just a newborn, he really does need a lot of love and attention.
Conyers makes sure that his body is clean and his tummy is full. Tristan, however, makes sure that he is safe and protected… and that he has fun, of course. It’s safe to say that the kitten absolutely loves his new big brother!
“I just think it’s the funniest thing because this kitten will always try to move towards Tristan, even when he was really little and just waddling around. I have other dogs here, and they all want to see him, but that cat could care less about them, but he loves Tristan,” Conyers says.
Tristan truly is the perfect babysitter!
However, since Conyers’s Tennessee pack consisted of six other dogs, one kitten wasn’t enough! So, a couple of weeks later, Tristan and his furry brothers hit the jackpot. They found more kittens in the backyard!
Even though everybody is doing an incredible job taking care of the adorable litter, Tristan really shines through!
Not only is this sweet golden boy gentle with his kitten siblings, but he is an incredible companion to all the species!
“Of course, Tristan steals anybody’s heart. When you take him out in public, you can see people barely being able to contain themselves in general. It’s like walking around with a celebrity,” Conyers concluded.
