Ken was a small, brown dog with a hopeful heart. He had been living at the rescue camp for six years, ever since he was a tiny puppy. Today was his birthday, but there was no one to celebrate with him.
Ken watched as the other dogs played and frolicked in the yard. He wished he could join them, but he was always a bit shy. He longed for a family to call his own, a place where he could feel loved and wanted.
As the day wore on, Ken curled up in his kennel and thought about his life. He had seen so many other dogs find their forever homes, their tails wagging with excitement as they left the shelter. But Ken was still waiting.
Every day, Ken would watch the people who came to the shelter. He would hope that one of them would choose him. But it was always the same. They would pet the other dogs, but they would never look at him.
Ken felt a pang of sadness. He was starting to lose hope. He wondered if he would ever find a family.
