From the moment shelter dogs move into their tiny kennels, they begin dreaming about finding humans who will give them what their hearts wish for – love.
Steven Tyler, a Pit Bull Terrier, started believing in his greatest dream after a Good Samaritan found him roaming around a high school and called for help.
Although he was shy and unsure after he arrived at Bradshaw Animal Shelter in Sacramento, California, Steven Tyler quickly warmed up to the shelter staff, and he became their favorite pup.
The dog’s heart soared with hope that he would meet a loving family who would cherish him like he deserved.
Longing For Love
Steven Tyler started spending hours looking out of his kennel window and resting his chin on the window sill.
With eyes filled with longing, the pup was waiting for someone to give him a chance.
Sadly, months passed, and the canine remained at his usual place.
Although nobody adopted him, the doggo didn’t get discouraged. His hope of realizing his biggest dream was unwavering.
Steven Tyler’s heart was full of love. When he wasn’t waiting by the window, the pooch was cuddling with his best doggy friend and kennel mate, Helga Hufflepup.
The shelter staff was delighted with his loving personality and they couldn’t figure out why Steven Tyler remained at the shelter.
They felt brokenhearted because nobody seemed to notice the doggo’s attempts to find a forever home.
The dog’s human friends knew that they needed to give him a helping hand.
They posted a poignant video of Steven Tyler on their social media that shows the dog waiting patiently by his window for his forever humans to show up.
“…We thought if we could show more people what we were seeing, someone would fall in love with him the way we had,” Luna Anona, the public information officer for Sacramento County Animal Care Services/Bradshaw Animal Shelter told PEOPLE.
The video melted the hearts of many people on the shelter’s social media platforms, and they started rooting for Steven Tyler to find his happily ever after.
The Dog’s Greatest Wish Comes True
An amazing family who came across the heartbreaking post fell in love with the adorable pup. They came to the shelter to adopt Steven Tyler on the same day the video was shared.
When the canine saw the family coming to meet him, his face lit up.
He knew that the humans he waited for finally found him.
After the pooch said goodbye to the loving shelter staff, he stepped out of the shelter with a wide smile on his face.
The attention that Steven Tyler garnered on the internet led to another adoption.
A wonderful woman came to the shelter to adopt him, but since the doggo had already found his forever home, the kind human decided to adopt his best friend, Helga Hufflepup.
Once Steven Tyler moved into his forever home, he quickly bonded with his little humans and his furry sisters, Daisy and Tahoe. He loves cuddling with them and absorbing their love.
His family feels immensely happy to have him in their lives.
“He’s a gem. He got along with our dog instantly, and he is SO good with our kids. He’s sweet and loving and it feels like he’s been here forever. He fits our family perfectly,” the shelter shared the update from his family in a Facebook post.
The delightful doggo, who changed his name to Donner, lives his best life.
